The team making the animated series Steel Ball Run: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure intends to release new episodes weekly, starting in Fall 2026, but fans are expressing their dissatisfaction with this plan.
Steel Ball Run is the sixth part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, based on the best-selling manga by Hirohiko Araki.
The latest installments take place in 1890, following Johnny Joestar as he competes in the cross-country ‘Steel Ball Run’ horse race, starting in San Diego and finishing in New York.
The first episode of the show launched on Netflix on March 19, 2026. However, a recent update reveals that the second episode won’t be released until later this year, leaving some viewers disappointed.
Steel Ball Run: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure continuing “in fall 2026”
Netflix has announced that the anime adaptation of Steel Ball Run: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is currently in production and will be released in two parts. The first part is already planned, and the second will begin streaming on Netflix in Fall 2026 with a new episode released weekly. This split release schedule was always the plan, according to the production committee. Netflix thanks fans for their support and patience as they work to bring the series to viewers.
Fans call schedule and delay “the worst possible combination”

Fans of Steel Ball Run are frustrated with the way new parts are being released, with some describing the schedule as chaotic and expressing a preference for a complete, uninterrupted release.
I saw someone comment, ‘W for making it weekly!’ which I totally agree with – it’s great we’ll get new episodes every week. But then they added, ‘L for making us wait until fall,’ and that pretty much sums up how everyone feels. We’re happy it’s weekly, but bummed we have to wait so long for the next episodes!
One viewer suggested they could have waited four months to build up several episodes before releasing the first one. Another viewer was more direct, hoping that if they did wait, each new episode could be released weekly starting with the second one. Otherwise, they suggested cancelling the show until they were consistently able to release episodes weekly.

Someone commented that the plan seemed to be delaying things with six-month waits, releasing Stage 2 in small weekly updates, and then going completely quiet for three months before starting the next stage, repeating the cycle. They expressed frustration, saying it combined the worst aspects of both slow, infrequent releases and constant, fragmented updates, and questioned why this approach was chosen.
Some viewers are worried about the wording of the message, suggesting it hints at another pause in the show after the second stage of releases. One user expressed their frustration, saying they don’t appreciate Netflix’s ambiguous language.
Okay, so the reaction isn’t all bad. I actually saw one person say this is exactly what they were hoping for! They think releasing Stone Ocean in two courses of about 10-12 episodes each, with a six-month gap between them, is the smartest way to do it. Since it’s such a long part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, it just makes sense to break it up like that, you know?
