If you’re on the hunt for a fresh game to fill the void left by Animal Crossing, you’ve hit the jackpot! An enchanting (and incredibly cute) new game is currently under development. Unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live, Floatopia is an upcoming farming/life simulation where players embark on a new life in the clouds, endowed with superpowers. Presented as a “fantastical realm brimming with toys, exploration, superpowers, and floating islands,” NetEase’s upcoming game, Floatopia, promises an engaging experience. The development team shared that the game will incorporate farming, fishing, logging, and home decorating, in addition to various magical abilities and world modification options. Outside of managing their homestead, players can expect to journey through realms inspired by different cultures. According to NetEase, these islands will showcase mountainous cities, ancient towns, deserts, frozen landscapes, enchanting fairy-tale domains, and culinary utopias.
In the official Floatopia press release, the studio delved into the overall themes, writing:
