As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say I am thoroughly thrilled by the prospect of Final Fantasy XVI gracing both consoles and PCs simultaneously. Having fond memories of playing earlier versions on various platforms, it’s heartening to see Square Enix acknowledging the growing demand for cross-platform gaming.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share some news: Hiroshi Takai, our game director, has hinted that upcoming Final Fantasy titles might drop simultaneously on PC and consoles from day one! That means no more waiting for my favorite games to come to PC – double the fun right off the bat!
As a dedicated gamer, I was thrilled when I heard about the possibility of future Final Fantasy games launching simultaneously on PC. In an exclusive chat with GamesRadar, Takai hinted at this being quite plausible, even likely. However, he quickly added that each project’s team retains the freedom to set their own release strategy, so it’s merely my personal speculation for now.
The PC adaptation of Final Fantasy XVI arrived more than a year following the initial game release. When queried if the delay was justified, Takai replied, “In light of the outcome, I believe the effort dedicated to tailoring the game for PC was not wasted.”
In early 2024, Square Enix announced some significant changes within the company. As per a financial report, they are planning to be more discerning about the games they decide to develop. This strategy has resulted in several projects being terminated, causing an estimated $140 million in losses due to “abandoned content.” However, Square Enix did not disclose which specific games were impacted by these cancellations.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed that my go-to gaming company, Square Enix, has faced challenges with PC versions of their games in the past. However, they’ve proven their commitment to enhancing the experience post-launch, as evident with Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Forspoken receiving significant updates to optimize performance after release. In a recent interview, Producer Takai reiterated their philosophy, stating that they “always take player feedback seriously.”
Final Fantasy XVI will be released for PC on September 17, with its downloadable content available separately for purchase. As of this moment, you can experience a demo of the game on Steam.
