As someone who’s grown up with the iconic characters and timeless games of Nintendo, I must admit that my heart skipped a beat when I heard about this special Nintendo Direct. However, upon closer inspection, it seems this isn’t your usual game-packed extravaganza we’ve all come to know and love. Instead, it’s a 10-minute tour of the upcoming Nintendo Museum in Kyoto!
Nintendo has unveiled an unusual Nintendo Direct broadcast scheduled for August 19 at 3 PM Pacific Time / 6 PM Eastern Time.
As a longtime gamer and Nintendo enthusiast, I eagerly anticipate the upcoming “Nintendo Museum Direct” showcase. Having visited numerous gaming museums around the world, I am thrilled at the prospect of virtually touring the Nintendo Museum that’s set to open in Kyoto, Japan this fall. However, I must admit a slight tinge of disappointment as Nintendo made it clear there will be no game announcements or mentions of the Switch successor during this presentation. Nevertheless, I remain hopeful for future updates and can’t wait to delve deeper into the rich history of one of my favorite gaming companies.

Nintendo has been transparent about what fans can anticipate during their Nintendo Direct broadcasts, particularly concerning the potential successor to the Switch console. They’ve confirmed that a revelation will definitely occur by April 2025 at the earliest. The most recent Nintendo Direct was in June, where they showcased major titles like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and finally set the 2025 release window for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
As a dedicated gamer, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo frequently hosts Directs centered around specific games or franchises. Given their recent focus, it’s no wonder they organized not just one, but two Directs exclusively for The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
