‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Set for Prime Video, Netflix Global Streaming Premiere

As a cinephile who has spent years traversing the vast expanse of Indian cinema, I am genuinely thrilled about the global premiere of “Kalki 2898 AD”. The blend of mythology, futuristic elements, and an ensemble cast led by Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani promises an unprecedented cinematic journey.

The highly anticipated science fiction movie “Kalki 2898 AD,” India’s top-grossing film of the year with a box office total of $131 million, will make its worldwide debut on both Prime Video and Netflix at the same time, though in various languages.

On August 22nd, the original Telugu film titled “Kalki” will be released, complete with Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and English subtitles on Prime Video. Simultaneously, a Hindi-dubbed version of the movie will be available on Netflix.

2898 AD finds me living in a post-apocalyptic world, devoid of nature and shrouded in darkness. This is the setting for “Kalki 2898 AD,” the initial offering within the Kalki Cinematic Universe. My story unfolds as Bhairava, a bounty hunter, navigates this grim future. The universe of this film was initially introduced through a two-part animated series, “B&B: Bujji & Bhairava,” available exclusively on Prime Video.

Under the guidance of director Nag Ashwin and production house Vyjayanthi Movies, the sci-fi film “Kalki 2989 AD” presents a stellar ensemble, led by Prabhas as Bhairava, with Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani in pivotal roles.

Manish Menghani, the head of content licensing at Prime Video India, commented: “The series ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has mesmerized viewers through its engaging narration and imaginative depiction of a future after an apocalypse.”

Prabhas expressed: “Working on ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ alongside a visionary director like Naga Ashwin and an outstanding cast has been incredibly thrilling. This film not only challenges traditional storytelling with its mix of mythology and futuristic aspects, but also explores the intricacies of human nature in depth.”

C. Aswani Dutt pointed out that releasing the movie on streaming platforms is a unique method for Vyjayanthi Movies to honor its 50-year anniversary in the film industry.

Ashwin expressed his intention of crafting an immersive film experience with “Kalki (in the year 2898 AD)” that pushes the boundaries, surpasses conventional limits, and makes our cultural folklore accessible to a worldwide audience.

Hassan, playing the villain Supreme Yaskin in the movie, found his participation to be “both remarkable and humbling.” He further stated that the film signifies a substantial advancement for Indian cinema.
