Production for The Last of Us Season 3 is now underway in Vancouver, Canada. First photos from the set reveal Kaitlyn Dever as Abby and Kyriana Kratter as Lev.
Season two of the HBO series covers the first part of the game, focusing on Ellie (Bella Ramsey) seeking revenge after Abby kills Joel (Pedro Pascal). While critics praised the season, giving it a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, fans were much less enthusiastic, resulting in an audience score of only 37%.
The upcoming season will tell Abby’s side of the story, and we’ll see more of the Seraphites – the dangerous religious group that was briefly introduced in an early episode of the show’s second season.
Okay, so HBO is already filming Season 3 of The Last of Us, which is awesome! And we’re getting our first glimpses of Lev – set photos have popped up showing the character, and it’s really exciting to see how they’re bringing him to life in the show.

New photos from The Last of Us Season 3 reveal Kyriana Kratter as Lev, sporting a leather costume and a quiver of arrows. The character, who identifies as male, shaves his head in the game as an act of rebellion against the Seraphites, a strict religious group, after being designated as a wife for one of their elders.
Lev is exiled from the cult, and his sister, Yara, chooses to leave with him. Actress Michelle Mao, known for her role in Bridgerton, will portray Yara, though she hasn’t appeared in any photos from the filming location yet. Shortly after leaving the Seraphites, Lev meets Abby, and together they embark on a journey to find medical attention for Yara, who suffered torture at the hands of the cult.
Recent set photos might depict Abby and Lev trying to find their way to the hospital, though this isn’t confirmed. A video also shows them walking on a rooftop, gazing into the distance, but it’s too far away to make out what they’re saying.

The relationship between Abby and Lev is deliberately designed to echo Joel and Ellie’s, with Lev showing Abby that kindness and helping others are just as important as fighting. This pairing also highlights the game’s theme of ending the endless cycle of violence and striving for something better in a broken world.
It will be fascinating to watch how Season 3 of The Last of Us develops Abby’s fiercely protective personality, especially since the show has less time to do so than the game did.
As we eagerly await news about The Last of Us Season 3, here’s a look at how Neil Druckmann may have hinted at the next game, and a preview of the TV shows we’re most excited for in 2026.
