As a seasoned Overwatch 2 gamer with a deep affection for the game’s lore and characters, I find myself caught between excitement and disappointment as Season 12 unfolds. The arrival of Juno, Anubis-themed Reaper skin, and new game modes is undeniably thrilling, but the apparent neglect of some beloved heroes leaves a sour taste.
As a thrilled fan, I can’t contain my excitement as Overwatch 2 unveils Season 12! This fresh wave brings an array of exhilarating content, such as the debut of our new comrade, Juno, along with innovative game modes and, let’s not forget, coveted rare skins to snag. The pièce de résistance? A mythical skin for Reaper – Anubis – inspired by the grandeur of Egyptian mythology, fitting perfectly with the season’s enchanting Egyptian motif!
Nonetheless, this choice has stirred confusion among fans, given that characters such as Ramattra and Venture, who share a strong connection with ancient Egypt, have not been given any new outfits or costumes. This development has ignited conversations within the community, which we will delve into further in the following discussion.
Overwatch 2 Fans Disappointed as Ramattra and Venture Receive No Skins in Season 12
In our Season 12 analysis, we revealed that Overwatch 2 is set to debut a mythical skin for Reaper based on Anubis, along with Battle Pass cosmetics for Illari, Sigma, Ashe, Ana, and Doomfist. Furthermore, there will be two new skins for Mercy and one for Kiriko. Although this roster is impressive, it has sparked disappointment among fans since certain heroes have been without new skins for months.

One Reddit user expressed a similar thought, stating, “There are numerous other characters with limited costumes, yet they continue to add more for Mercy and Kiriko. This is troubling for fans because while these two characters are receiving recycled skins, heroes like Ramattra and Venture, who seem tailor-made for this season’s Egyptian theme, have been neglected.” Another user revealed that the new Marilyn Monroe skin for Mercy was actually a leftover from the holiday Formalwear skins.
In another Reddit discussion, a player voiced their displeasure, explaining how they were looking forward to seeing skins for Ramattra or Venture, as they felt it was fitting given that both characters seemed ideally suited for such designs. However, neither character received any skins, which left the player puzzled, especially since Ramattra’s connection to the Egyptian god Anubis, his creator, according to Overwatch 2 lore, makes his omission even more perplexing.
One fan expressed their disappointment by saying, “It’s unfair to have no role for Ramattra in an Egyptian-themed season given that his character is essentially Anubis, which seems almost criminal.” Another fan suggested, “I strongly believe that Blizzard holds a grudge against Ramattra, considering he was also overlooked.” Similarly, Venture, whose persona is centered around archaeology and a deep interest in ancient Egyptian mythology, also didn’t get any screen time.
Fans of the game “Venture” feel overlooked as they haven’t received any legendary skins yet, with one fan even saying they’re decaying due to this scarcity. It’s been three seasons since its launch, but neither Venture nor Ramattra have had a single legendary skin released. This has left fans puzzled as to why characters like Mercy and Kiriko consistently receive more attention in terms of skins.
It appears that the main factor at play, quite frequently, comes down to financial considerations. Certain players have highlighted that Mercy’s skins contribute substantially to Overwatch 2’s revenue, which is essential for maintaining the game as a free-to-play platform. Although this situation might be disheartening, it’s reasonable given that players tend to invest money in characters they admire, like Mercy, D.Va, Kiriko, and Reaper, rather than those with smaller fanbases such as Ramattra and Venture.
Ultimately, we’re hoping that Blizzard takes note of the community’s requests (including my own since Ramattra is my favorite tank) and eventually provides these heroes with the skins they deserve, whether it’s during Season 12 or afterward. Ideally, we’d like to see skins distributed evenly among all characters, but we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed to see if Blizzard feels the same way.
