How to Beat Sawhalanthropus in Super Meat Boy 3D

While Super Meat Boy 3D doesn’t drastically change the gameplay, it’s still a really fun experience, especially with the new 3D perspective. Team Meat also added some challenging and massive boss battles to keep things interesting.

The game’s bosses aren’t traditional battles; they’re more like challenges where winning usually just means surviving longer than the enemy.

The Forest, the first world in Super Meat Boy 3D, ends with a challenging boss: Sawhalanthropus. This massive robot relentlessly chases you with a chainsaw, trying to eliminate you.

If you’re having trouble with this one, here’s how to win.

To be honest, the key to defeating this boss in Super Mario Bros. 3D World is understanding the best way to move through the level. There aren’t many other tricks to share, so watching a video guide – like the one above – is probably the most helpful thing you can do.

This video shows how I defeated Sawhalanthropus, and should help you learn how to do it too.

How to Beat Sawhalanthropus

If you’d rather have written instructions, I can help with that too. This battle begins with Meat Boy running to the right. Just be careful not to get too far ahead of the screen’s movement, or the laser wall at the end will reset your progress.

The boss will swipe at you with his chainsaw from the right side of the screen, then swing it back around from behind. Jump as much as possible while moving to the right.

As you enter the next open space, red markers will appear on the ground indicating where missiles will land. Stay towards the center to avoid them, and be ready to jump over the robot’s chainsaw again as it attacks.

Just keep heading to the right. Avoid the chainsaws and the areas marked on the ground, and continue jumping across platforms until you get to the final part of the boss fight.

Be careful! The boss’s final chainsaw attack hangs in the air above the next platform for a few seconds. Wait for it to pass to avoid getting hit.

Now, you need to climb up a few more platforms. Watch out for incoming missiles – you’ll need to move quickly! As a shortcut, you can jump and dash directly from the first platform on the right to the second, skipping the one on the left if you prefer.

Reach the end, then jump into the boss to win and move on to World 2, The Wastes.
