‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Trailer Brings Zendaya & Sydney Sweeney Back One Last Time

It’s been four years since the last season of Euphoria, and wow, so much has happened for the cast! Zendaya has truly become a huge star with her roles in the Marvel movies and the Dune films. Jacob Elordi even got an Oscar nomination for playing the Creature in del Toro’s Frankenstein – that’s amazing! And Sydney Sweeney? She’s become a household name, both for her work and just in general. It’s wild to think about how much their characters have changed too, since they’ve all graduated high school now!

Despite the time jump, the main characters still face familiar struggles. The new trailer shows Zendaya’s Rue involved in risky situations, Jacob Elordi’s Nate dealing with family pressure, and Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie exploring a career on OnlyFans. You can watch the Season 3 trailer below to see what’s ahead for them.

Several other familiar faces are back for the new season, including Maude Apatow, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Colman Domingo, and Chloe Cherry. The trailer also features Eric Dane as Cal, Nate’s father, in one of his final performances before his passing earlier this year. Unfortunately, Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, will not appear in Season 3, following his death in 2023.

The HBO series Euphoria, originally created in Israel, has sparked a lot of debate since it first aired. Some have applauded its realistic portrayal of teenage life and strong acting, while others have criticized its frequent depictions of sex and drug use. After its second season, the show’s future was uncertain, mainly because of the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes, and the fact that many of the cast members had become very busy with other projects.

Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, has a knack for sparking debate, and he continued to do so even between seasons of that show. In 2023, he collaborated with Abel Tesfaye, known as The Weeknd, on HBO’s The Idol. The series stars Lily-Rose Depp as a pop star whose life and career are dramatically altered when she meets an enigmatic figure – Tesfaye himself.

Similar to the show Euphoria, The Idol also tackled challenging and suggestive topics. However, while Euphoria was well-received, The Idol received mostly negative reviews. Reports indicated that the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, dramatically changed the original vision of showrunner Amy Seimetz, leading to her departure. After a disappointing premiere at Cannes and poor viewership on HBO, the network shortened the season from six episodes to just five, making Episode 5 the series finale.

Everyone is eagerly anticipating the third season of Euphoria. It will be a crucial test for creator Sam Levinson – it could demonstrate his skill as a storyteller, or it could reinforce the idea that he’s more interested in shocking audiences than making meaningful films.
