The Elder Scrolls: Blades to Shut Down in Summer

Bethesda is ending support for The Elder Scrolls: Blades, its free-to-play mobile game, this summer. If you currently play, the company is offering significant discounts until the game shuts down.

Nintendo Life noticed that the servers for The Elder Scrolls: Blades will shut down permanently on June 30th. This shutdown affects all versions of the game, not just the Switch version, and includes the mobile app.

Before the game shuts down, everything in the in-game store will be available for just one Gem or one Sigil. Bethesda made this change so players can experience all of Blades‘ content before it’s no longer available, so be sure to take advantage of it!

Because The Elder Scrolls: Blades requires a constant internet connection, when the game’s servers are shut down, the game will become completely unplayable. It’s unlikely Bethesda will make any effort to preserve the game for future access.

Another game, Blades, is ending soon. While it wasn’t very well-received by critics, its shutdown likely won’t be a major loss for most players.

Wondering about The Elder Scrolls: Blades? It was a free-to-play game where you explored dungeons. Unlike other Elder Scrolls games with vast open worlds, Blades offered a more focused, step-by-step experience, but it still featured the same exciting first-person combat the series is known for.

When Blades first came out, it actually did really well – it made over $1.5 million in just the first month! But honestly, not enough people are playing it now, and Bethesda has decided it’s just not worth keeping the servers running anymore. It’s a bummer, but I get it.

Bethesda has removed The Elder Scrolls: Blades from all app stores following the server shutdown announcement. This means you can only continue playing if you’ve already downloaded and installed the game. That’s all there is to it.
