After more than ten years, a player has finally achieved what was thought to be an impossible feat in a PlayStation game: earning the platinum trophy.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus on PS Vita is well-known among trophy collectors for being incredibly difficult, especially because of its challenging Tag Missions. It’s gained almost legendary status for how hard it is to earn all the trophies.
A player named Tqvry from Japan has become the first in the world to earn the platinum trophy for the game, an impressive feat considering the game came out 13 years ago.
Earning the platinum trophy, called “Master of the Secret Arts,” means completing every single challenge in the game – even the really difficult, late-game missions that have given players trouble for a long time. But the PS Vita version makes it even harder because of how those challenges work.
Impossible platinum finally achieved
The Vita version of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 doesn’t have the online co-op feature that was available on the PS3. Instead, players are limited to Tag Missions with a computer-controlled partner. This mode wasn’t adjusted to work well with a single player, and many players find the AI partner to be unhelpful in difficult fights.
This makes already challenging missions incredibly difficult, pushing players to their limits both in terms of skill and mental strength. One player reported spending about 600 hours to fully complete the game, demonstrating just how much dedication it requires.
To share their amazing accomplishment, Tqvry posted a video of their winning game on YouTube, as part of a nearly ten-hour playthrough.
Although three people worldwide have completed the challenge, Tqvry is the only one with verified proof of earning the “Master of the Secret Arts” trophy. As a result, they’re currently recognized as the first to achieve this and are featured on the corresponding leaderboard until others can do the same.
Ever since posting the video, Tqvry has become incredibly popular online, and fans are celebrating their well-deserved platinum achievement.
One person commented, praising the achievement as incredible and calling the individual “completely amazing” and a “legend” for being the first in the world to do it.
Many players are calling this one of the most impressive gaming accomplishments ever. One commenter believes it might be the high point for trophy collectors for a long time. While others will undoubtedly achieve similar feats, being the first to do something considered impossible is truly remarkable.
