With its fifth and final season arriving April 8th, The Boys is promising a shocking number of character deaths. The first two episodes are expected to kick things off with high stakes and potentially feature major characters dying. Considering the show’s past and its connection to the original comic books, some of these deaths might be foreshadowed.
The fifth and final season of The Boys reunites the main cast, featuring stars like Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and Erin Moriarty, for a last, wild adventure. The new season picks up right after the events of Gen V Season 2, continuing the connected storyline and bringing the epic showdown between Butcher (Urban) and Homelander (Antony Starr) to a head.
Season 5 of the show will feature a surprising return: Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles. The trailer shows him teaming up with Homelander, and together, this father-son duo will be incredibly powerful. This also suggests that Cameron Crovetti’s character, Ryan, will likely develop even stronger abilities, potentially even challenging Homelander.
As the story races to its end, it looks like the finale will be filled with violence and many characters are likely to die, particularly if the show stays true to its source material.
Possible Deaths in The Boys Season 5
A-Train

In the comic book version of the story, Hughie is the one who ultimately kills A-Train. This happens after Butcher sets up a fight and makes A-Train confess on recording that he never regretted killing Robin, at which point Hughie decapitates him.
In the Amazon Prime series, the character A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) has changed significantly over four seasons, ultimately finding redemption. By the end of Season 4, he was secretly helping The Boys, acting as their informant to help them escape.
This change suggests he’s now more likely to die a heroic death, possibly killed in a conflict involving both an ally and a rival, similar to how Homelander might act.
Homelander

Homelander’s end in the comics happens quickly and unexpectedly. Black Noir, a clone created specifically to eliminate him if he became a threat, ultimately kills him.
The show completely removed that plot twist by having Homelander kill the original Black Noir in Season 3.
Okay, so Season 5 kicks off and things are seriously messed up. Homelander has basically taken over America. He’s got a president who’s totally on his side, and he’s running things right from the Oval Office with a whole army of supes at his command. It’s a really unsettling power grab, and honestly, it’s terrifying to watch.
The idea that Ryan will ultimately kill his father is still the most powerful and emotionally satisfying possibility the show has been leading towards, though Butcher is also determined to defeat the supervillain himself.
Black Noir

The TV show The Boys significantly changed the original comic book story by killing off the first Noir character in Season 3. They replaced him with a new version who doesn’t have a well-defined personality and mainly serves as a visual stand-in.
The impact of his death in the comics—the sense of loss and shock—wouldn’t be the same without the reveal that he was a clone. Black Noir II could realistically die in Season 5 amidst all the chaos, as both the comics and the show have established that whoever wears the black suit doesn’t survive for long.
Love Sausage

In the comic books, Love Sausage is a rare genuinely kind superhero, a steadfast friend to The Boys who is tragically killed by Butcher during his attack on all those with Compound V. However, his character is portrayed very differently in the television series.
The first episode of Season 5, titled “Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite,” clearly references a Love Sausage comic book, hinting that the character will be a major focus in the final season.
Mother’s Milk

Mother’s Milk’s death is one of the most shockingly brutal moments in the final storyline. Butcher kills him by blowing him up with a grenade and then suffocating him, eliminating the most level-headed member of The Boys simply because he opposed Butcher’s plan to wipe out all supes.
The series has expanded on the character of MM significantly compared to the original comic books. It’s given Laz Alonso’s portrayal a rich family life and an ongoing emotional journey, making any potential storyline involving the character’s death all the more impactful.
It’s still unclear if the show will be as intense and grim as the original comics, but everything is definitely in place for it to potentially go there.
Frenchie

In the comic book version of the story, Butcher sets explosives at The Boys’ base and escapes before Frenchie and Kimiko return. Frenchie only has time to notice the detonator and tell Kimiko he loves her before the building explodes.
The show has already hinted at a romantic connection between Frenchie and Kimiko, making the original planned emotional climax less likely. With many characters expected to die this season, Frenchie seems like a likely candidate to be among them.
Kimiko

Kimiko dies alongside Frenchie in the comics, which the series may try to recreate in some way.
As a huge fan, I was so thrilled to see Kimiko finally speak at the end of Season 4! It was such a powerful moment when she shouted “No!” as Frenchie was being taken – after all this time, to hear her voice was incredible. The promos for Season 5 seem to be building on that, showing how this new ability will play out, and I can’t wait to see where they take her story now that she’s found her voice!
As a huge fan of The Boys, I’d be devastated to see Kimiko go. She’s definitely been through the wringer a few times, narrowly escaping death before, so it feels like her story arc might be reaching its conclusion. It’s tough, but it wouldn’t be entirely surprising if this is it for her.
Butcher

In the comic book storyline, Butcher becomes the antagonist after defeating Homelander. He systematically kills every superhero on Earth, even members of his own team, and then engineers his own death by goading Hughie into stabbing him.
Karl Urban’s portrayal of Butcher shows a more compassionate side than the character in the comics, especially in his affection for Hughie and Ryan. However, the fourth season saw him make a shocking decision – murdering Victoria Neuman despite objections from his team. This act led him to embrace his darker impulses, all while a dangerous virus that kills Supes continues to develop within him.
The show clearly follows the same structure as the comic book, and it seems likely that Butcher will be the one to make the ultimate sacrifice. It’s difficult to imagine Season 5 concluding with either Butcher or Homelander still alive, though the fate of the other characters remains uncertain.
