As a lifelong fan of rhythm games and JRPGs, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of Keylocker since its initial announcement back in 2020. Having grown up in the era of Chrono Trigger and Mario & Luigi RPG series, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia upon learning that this title seamlessly blends physical comedy, rich storytelling, and challenging strategic mechanics.
On September 18th, the game titled “Keylocker” will be made available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers via Steam. Developer Moonana and publisher Serenity Forge have been working on this project since it was first announced in June 2020. A demo of the game can still be tested on Steam at the time of this article’s publication.
In a fresh trailer, Keylocker has revealed its updated game version release date, showcasing some never-before-seen footage of the game in action. Players engage in a strategic turn-based battle system where they move their characters across a grid to strike enemies and dodge incoming attacks. The game includes timing mechanics and reactive meters that determine the amount of damage inflicted or received.
In the futuristic cityscape of Saturn, known as a cyberpunk metropolis, music creation has been outlawed. However, you’ll find B0B0, a resilient singer-songwriter, challenging this irrational ban on music. She fights for her right to express herself musically.

In the oppressive cityscape of Saturn, an authoritarian rule has outlawed music, suppressing all forms of sound. Defying this oppression is B0B0, a fearless musician and composer, who takes it upon herself to challenge the corrupt government by engaging in strategic confrontations. She must skillfully play her moves in real-time, much like a rhythm game, to outwit her adversaries, unravel the enigmas of the city and its rulers, and eventually stage electrifying concerts with her band’s heart-pounding electronic beats.
Drawing inspiration from timeless role-playing games such as Mario & Luigi’s RPG series and Chrono Trigger, Keylocker seamlessly blends the appeal of physical humor with engrossing storytelling and tactical gameplay challenges. This unique fusion of JRPG, narrative, and rhythm elements is set to deliver a truly memorable gaming experience.
