Camila Mendes to Star as Teela in ‘Masters of the Universe’ With Nicholas Galitzine

As a die-hard fan of both Camila Mendes and the iconic Masters of the Universe franchise, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of excitement at this news! Camila has always shown incredible talent on the small screen, especially her portrayal of Veronica in Riverdale. Now, she’s set to bring another beloved character to life on the big screen – Teela!

Actress Camila Mendes has been added to the lineup for “Masters of the Universe.” In this upcoming production, she’ll be taking on the role of Teela, a character that will appear alongside Nicholas Galitzine, who is set to play the infamous blond barbarian figure known as He Man.

Details about the storyline are being kept secret, but based on a previous studio summary, “Masters of the Universe” revolves around Prince Adam from the world of Eternia, also known as He-Man. As a child, he arrives on Earth in a spaceship and later returns to his home planet as an adult to safeguard it against the malicious intentions of Skeletor, a formidable adversary. To vanquish this powerful enemy, Prince Adam must unearth secrets from his past and transform into He-Man, who is revered in this universe as the strongest man. Teela, a fierce warrior, guards Eternia’s royal family and may potentially develop romantic feelings for Prince Adam.

The movie titled “Bumblebee” is being directed by Travis Knight for Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel. This film, which has been delayed, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 5, 2026. Chris Butler is currently working on the screenplay, with David Callaham and the Nee brothers having initially drafted the script, inspired by the action figure from 1982.

Mattel Films, the studio behind various upcoming movies like “Barney” starring Daniel Kaluuya, the animated “Bob the Builder” featuring Jennifer Lopez and Anthony Ramos, rapper Lil Yachty’s heist thriller “Uno”, and Vin Diesel’s “Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots”, is also developing “Masters of the Universe”. Mattel has only one film under its belt thus far: the billion-dollar blockbuster “Barbie” produced by Warner Bros.

Mendes is primarily recognized for her role as Veronica in the television series “Riverdale,” based on Archie Comics, which concluded its broadcast last year. More recently, she has been featured in two Amazon MGM films titled “Upgraded” and “Música,” and the Netflix comedy “Do Revenge,” where she acted alongside Maya Hawke. She is currently represented by talent agencies such as CAA, Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Hansen Jacobsen Teller & Hoberman.
