It feels like it’s been a long time since Nintendo really wowed us with a Direct presentation, but recent rumors feel like a sneak peek at what they’ve been working on. While we shouldn’t believe everything we hear until Nintendo officially confirms it, the leaks suggest some exciting announcements could be coming soon.
Recent Nintendo leaks have largely come from a YouTuber named NateTheHate, who has accurately predicted things in the past. While they’ve been right before, it’s important to remember not everything they say will necessarily happen. Some information is also appearing from other places, including a surprisingly well-informed anonymous commenter.
The Duskbloods Release Window
Most of the recent Nintendo rumors focus on games made by Nintendo itself, but there’s also news about a game from FromSoftware coming to the next Switch. Currently, The Duskbloods is only expected to launch sometime in 2026, but a new leak indicates it will likely be released towards the end of that year.
Okay, so NateTheHate is saying a summer release would be logical, but right now it’s looking more like October. As a big FromSoftware fan, I was hoping we’d have more info by now, especially since the game was first shown off with the Switch 2 announcement. It’s starting to sound like maybe getting Elden Ring running well on the Switch 2 caused some delays with The Duskbloods too, which is a bit of a bummer, but understandable.
Switch Sports On Switch 2
One of the less clear details from NateTheHate’s leaks is that a new installment of Switch Sports is planned for this summer. It’s currently unknown if this will be a completely new game, or an updated version of the original for the Switch 2.
While Switch Sports didn’t become as popular as the classic Wii Sports, a new sequel could give it a much-needed boost in character and appeal. This is just one of several possibilities Nintendo might reveal this summer.
Switch 2 Summer Release Line-Up
NateTheHate predicts a lot of Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 game announcements this summer, particularly for titles that currently don’t have confirmed release dates. If the buzz is true, we can expect to see Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and Rhythm Heaven Groove released sometime this summer.
We should be able to confirm this information relatively soon, as Nintendo will eventually announce release dates. If these games are truly coming out soon, it would suggest that some of the less clear rumors might also be true.
Devil May Cry 5 On Switch 2
A rating for a game called Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition was recently spotted on Taiwan’s game rating website. This, combined with confirmation from NateTheHate, strongly suggests that Devil May Cry 5 is coming to the Switch 2, and it seems highly likely to happen.
As a big Devil May Cry fan, it feels like it’s been forever since DMC5 came out seven years ago! Capcom fans of Resident Evil and Monster Hunter have had so much new content, but we DMC players have been a little left out. While I’d love a brand new game, a Switch 2 version of DMC5 would be awesome – honestly, it’s way better than waiting for who-knows-when for something new!
Nintendo Direct Window
Aside from all the talk about upcoming games, NateTheHate shared his thoughts on the next Nintendo Direct. He believes we might see smaller Directs focusing on indie games or partners soon, but a major, general Nintendo Direct likely won’t happen until June.
If this is correct, we probably won’t get official confirmation about the rumors until Nintendo holds its next Direct presentation. NateTheHate has a good track record with predicting those dates, so this leak seems likely to be accurate.
New Wario Land Game
Although NateTheHate didn’t mention a new Wario Land game in their leaks, another source indicates one might be in development. Before NateTheHate’s video was released, a YouTube user named @malo932 correctly predicted several of the reveals, and also hinted at something Wariorelated. A subsequent comment, posted just hours before NateTheHate’s video, suggested a new Wario Land* title could be released in either 2026 or 2027.
It’s difficult to rely heavily on a source that’s completely anonymous, but they seem to know about rumors before NateTheHate does, which is interesting. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about this rumor soon.
Super Metroid Remake
Similar to the rumor about a new Wario Land game, the information about a Super Metroid remake came from an anonymous commenter, not NateTheHate. However, this Metroid rumor has surfaced before, giving it a bit more credibility than the Wario claim.
Reports suggest that MercurySteam, the studio behind Metroid: Samus Returns and Metroid Dread (developed with Nintendo EPD), is working on a remake of Super Metroid. This isn’t unexpected, as Nintendo has already revisited the first and second Metroid games with Metroid: Zero Mission and Samus Returns, respectively.
3D Mario Release Window
New 3D Mario games usually drive console sales, but Nintendo chose to release Mario Kart with the Switch 2 instead of a brand new Mario adventure. Soon after, Donkey Kong Bananza offered a similar experience, taking many of the creative ideas from Super Mario Odyssey and adapting them to Donkey Kong‘s powerful, action-packed gameplay.
People are still eager to find out when the next 3D Mario game will be released, and recent leaks suggest it could be around 2027. While that’s a bit of a wait, it’s not terrible. Those who purchase a Switch 2 during the 2026 holiday season might be able to play it the following year.
New Star Fox Game
Fans constantly ask for new Star Fox games, but the series hasn’t consistently become one of Nintendo’s biggest hits. While Star Fox 64 is a classic, and the 3DS version is great too, titles like Star Fox Zero haven’t been as successful.
It sounds like Nintendo is planning to give another Star Fox game a shot on the upcoming Switch 2. This news comes shortly after Star Fox was featured in the Super Mario Galaxy movie, which was also just announced this week.
Ocarina Of Time Remake
The most exciting news from the recent leaks is the possibility of a full remake of Ocarina of Time for the Switch 2. This remake is expected to be a much bigger update than the 3D version released previously. It could launch in 2026, which would be the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series, and also help promote the Legend of Zelda movie coming out in 2027.
It’s still unclear exactly how Nintendo intends to remake Ocarina of Time, but it’s sure to be a challenging undertaking. The game is considered a classic, and changing its gameplay or world risks losing what fans love about the original. Regardless, this potential project is likely to be the biggest news for Nintendo fans this year.
