Tom Hardy & Guy Ritchie’s Gritty 10-Part Crime Series Gets Major Return Update With “Ambitious” Story Tease From Star

The popular crime series starring Tom Hardy and directed by Guy Ritchie has reached a significant new stage in filming and is set to return this year.

Following its successful debut on Paramount+ in spring 2025, the series MobLand, starring Tom Hardy and directed by Guy Ritchie, was quickly picked up for a second season. Season 2 of MobLand—which centers on the Harrigan crime family and their troubleshooter (Hardy) as they face increasing conflict with other families—began filming in London in fall 2025, with Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren all involved in the new scenes.

As a huge fan of MobLand, I’m thrilled to hear that season 2 has officially finished filming! Emmett J. Scanlan, who plays the fantastic Paul O’Donnell, shared on Instagram on March 28th that he’s done with his part. He said he had a “sublime” time filming, which is great to hear and means we’re one step closer to seeing the new episodes!

Scanlan indicated he’s finished filming, saying “That’s a wrap for me,” but it seems production is still ongoing for other cast members as they near completion. With one of the show’s main actors wrapping up in late March, MobLand season 2 remains on track for a 2026 release. Given that season 1 finished filming only four days before its debut, the second season could potentially arrive even sooner this year.

Details about the plot of MobLand season 2 have been kept secret, but Scanlan recently hinted at a much more intense experience in the upcoming episodes. He described the new season as “ambitious,” “fast-moving,” and even more “insane” than the first, going so far as to say he thinks it’s an improvement over season 1.

The first season of MobLand, created by Ronan Bennett, received positive reviews and currently has a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In April 2025, Paramount announced that MobLand had the biggest global launch ever for a Paramount+ series, attracting over 8.8 million viewers in its first week. The popular crime thriller was quickly renewed for a second season, following the conclusion of season 1 in June 2025.

As production began on the second season of MobLand, Paramount announced the addition of two new main cast members. Johnny Flynn, known for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and Ophelia Lovibond, from Minx, will be joining the show, though their roles are currently being kept secret.

Season two of MobLand will bring back original cast members Hardy, Brosnan, Mirren, and Scanlan, alongside Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Anson Boon, Lara Pulver, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allan, Janet McTeer, Toby Jones, and Alex Fine. Guy Ritchie returns as director and executive producer, following the success of his recent Prime Video series, Young Sherlock.

I’m really excited because filming on MobLand is almost done, so I’m hoping Paramount+ will announce a release date for season 2 soon – or at least give us a clearer idea of when it will premiere in 2026. Besides MobLand, I’m also looking forward to the returns of other shows like Lioness, Tulsa King, and Landman later this year.
