If you enjoy funny movies that poke fun at things, or if you’re a fan of historical dramas like The Gilded Age and Downton Abbey, you’ll probably love this R-rated comedy. Fackham Hall first came out on HBO Max earlier this month, after a limited theatrical release in late 2025. Now that the director’s newest film, the horror comedy They Will Kill You, is in theaters, Fackham Hall is climbing the charts again, according to FlixPatrol.
Fackham Hall Gets Its Last Say on Streaming
The film launched on March 6th and gained attention for several days. But it faced stiff competition, especially with the recent Oscars and popular titles like One Battle After Another and Weapons. Then, the trailer for Dune: Part Three was released, causing the first two Dune movies to climb back to the top of the charts.
Despite not being a major box office hit – earning only $2 million in theaters – Fackham Hall is now finding an audience through streaming. While it briefly appeared on digital charts, it performed best on HBO Max.
As a big movie fan, I was really pleased to see this R-rated period comedy getting such a good reception! It’s currently ‘Certified Fresh’ with a 74% score from critics, and audiences seem to love it too, giving it a 76% rating. Tom Felton recently described it perfectly, saying it beautifully blends the slapstick humor of something like The Naked Gun with the gorgeous visuals and setting you’d expect from shows like Downton Abbey and The Crown.
He acknowledged the team understood they were venturing into somewhat uncertain territory with this project, but expressed his happiness that audiences have reacted positively.
This raunchy comedy follows Eric as he gets a job at a quirky old manor. He quickly becomes a valued employee and starts a secret relationship with Rose, the owner’s daughter. However, when someone is murdered, Eric is wrongly accused, putting Rose and her family in danger.
Tom Felton’s New Movie Has a Positive Reception
In 2025, Tom Felton released his book, Fackham Hall, and also began performing on Broadway. He returned to his iconic role as Draco Malfoy in the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and continues to perform the role while also working on a new film.
The horror comedy They Will Kill You, from the producers of It and It: Welcome to Derry, was released on March 27th and has been generally well-received. Critics gave it a 67% rating based on 108 reviews, while audiences have shown more enthusiasm, giving it a 79% approval rating.
This movie is a wild, violent adventure! It centers on a young woman who has to survive a night trapped in the lair of a demonic cult – a truly twisted and deadly place – before they sacrifice her. Expect over-the-top kills and a darkly funny, action-packed ride.
Fackham Hall is available to stream on HBO Max. They Will Kill You is currently playing in theaters.
