Kenny Omega wants to play Alex if the Street Fighter movie gets a sequel, but there’s a catch

So, I was chatting with TopMob, and apparently Kenny Omega – yeah, the wrestler – really wants to play Alex Johnson in a potential Street Fighter movie sequel. He’s super keen on the role, but there’s a snag… he didn’t say what it was, just that there is one!

I’m so excited! Street Fighter is finally getting a new movie this October. It’s been a long wait – over 32 years since the first one with Jean-Claude Van Damme back in ’94 – and this one looks like it’s packed with even bigger stars!

The upcoming 2026 Street Fighter movie boasts a cast of comedians, professional wrestlers, and skilled martial artists, aiming to capture the exciting and over-the-top energy of the original game. However, one wrestler is hoping to be included in the film.

Kenny Omega reveals first thing he told Cody Rhodes after Guile casting announcement

We recently spoke with professional wrestler Kenny Omega, a star with AEW, about the new live-action Street Fighter movie. He shared his enthusiastic reaction to the film and what he thought when he learned that fellow wrestler Cody Rhodes would be playing Guile.

When I found out Cody was cast as Guile, I immediately reached out to him. I told him, ‘Congratulations, Cody! Honestly, the old me would have been really upset and jealous, but I’m genuinely excited and happy for you getting this role.’

Since Rhodes played the character Guile, we were curious if Kenny might appear in a future Street Fighter movie. It’s definitely possible, considering Kenny recently did motion capture work for the character Alex in Street Fighter 6 – Alex is a popular character who, like Kenny, is a professional wrestler.

Alex is a longtime favorite fighting game character, and the actor would be thrilled to play him in a movie. However, he knows it would take months of preparation to truly capture the character’s essence.

I’m really hoping there’s a sequel, because I’d love to reprise my role as Alex! But honestly, I’d need a good heads-up. I’d have to gain around 50-60 pounds of muscle, which wouldn’t be a quick process. I’ve already been growing my hair out, thankfully, but I’d definitely need to hit the gym hard and get seriously buff!

The Street Fighter movie lightning-kicks its way to theaters on October 16, 2026.
