Yet another Overwatch 2 goes by without a Venture skin

As a long-time Overwatch 2 player who has seen the evolution of characters from their humble beginnings to their current forms, I can’t help but feel a twinge of dismay at the ongoing saga of Venture, our trailblazing trans non-binary hero. Despite the groundbreaking strides made in representing diverse identities within the game, it seems that when it comes to customization, Venture is still left out in the cold.

Fans of Overwatch 2 are puzzled as Season 11 concludes without any new costumes for the game’s pioneering trans non-binary character, Venture, who was introduced in Season 10 as the 40th hero. Upon debut, Venture had a limited offering of four rare skins, which were primarily color variations of the original design.

Although Venture has been widely acclaimed for its entertaining gameplay (since it’s such a blast to play and compete against), it remains unique among all heroes in Overwatch as the one who debuted without a Legendary skin upon release.

Yet another Overwatch 2 goes by without a Venture skin

Ever since Venture’s gameplay and design were unveiled in November 2023, players have been eagerly anticipating a Legendary skin that would make Venture comparable to other characters within the roster. Interestingly, each hero introduced into the game so far has debuted with a Legendary skin, making the lack of one for Venture even more perplexing. On the contrary, Mauga, who joined us only two seasons prior, now boasts four Legendary skins and a total of 11 alternate skins alongside his base skin.

With Season 12 fast approaching, it’s left Venture fans feeling a little let down again. The upcoming season teases some exciting skins, like the Mythic Anubis Reaper skin inspired by the Egyptian Sun God Ra, and Legendary skins for heroes such as Doomfist, Ana, Ashe, Illari, and Sigma. However, for Venture fans, there’s nothing new on the horizon – not a thing!

I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. Wait, actually—

It’s disheartening that although Blizzard put significant effort into making Venture’s character authentic by collaborating with the LGBT Network and gender non-conforming team members, Venture is limited in terms of in-game customization options. This has led some to wonder about Blizzard’s dedication towards inclusion, as representation is crucial yet seems overlooked in this aspect of the game.

It makes me ponder if Blizzard might be finding it challenging to maintain pace given the abundance of content they’re releasing, and I’m not alone in this thought. One might question the necessity of two Mercy skins for Season 12.

In Season 12, the newest character, Juno, is set to make her debut without a legendary skin. However, this omission seems particularly conspicuous for the Venture faction, who have been named as the focus of an entire season, “Venture Forth.” Despite their prominent role and the season’s title, they are the only heroes yet to receive a proper legendary skin—a circumstance that makes their appearance seem somewhat inauthentic.

7 months have passed since Venture made its debut at BlizzCon 2023, yet it doesn’t boast a Legendary skin as of now. Venture continues to wait on the bench, while fans eagerly anticipate Blizzard to bestow the recognition this hero deserves by introducing a legendary skin.
