Until Dawn Comes To PS5 and PC This October

As a seasoned gamer who has traversed through countless digital landscapes and survived numerous virtual nightmares, I can confidently say that the news of Until Dawn‘s re-emergence in Unreal Engine 5 is music to my ears. The original was a chilling rollercoaster ride that left me on the edge of my seat, and I am thrilled at the prospect of diving back into Raccoon Mountain with updated visuals and character models.

I can’t contain my excitement! On October 4, 2024, I’ll be diving back into Until Dawn, now available on both PS5 and PC. This time, it’s been meticulously rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5, promising a fresh look with updated character models, props, visuals, and more, enhancing the overall experience for me as a player. It’s going to feel like I’m right there in the heart of the story!

In one of the game’s major visual enhancements, character models are set to undergo significant upgrades. Ballistic Moon anticipates that these changes will strike a chord with both novice players and long-time enthusiasts of the game.

Alongside enhanced graphics, the revamped version of Until Dawn features a reimagined prologue. However, the developers have made sure to preserve the essence of the game by not making drastic changes, providing a more polished experience compared to the original, but one that still adheres to the same series of events.

According to Creative Director Neil McEwan, who posted on the PlayStation blog, we’ve decided to tweak the Prologue’s storyline for improved pacing. This change allows the Washingtons to have more on-screen moments, giving viewers a deeper understanding of their strong family ties and allowing us to get acquainted with them more intimately.

It appears that Ballistic Moon’s strategy for updating Until Dawn resembles Bloober Team’s approach to the Silent Hill 2 remake, a different survival horror game whose faithful recreation is eagerly anticipated by fans.

McEwan clarifies, “As enthusiasts of Until Dawn and horror in general, our aim isn’t to change the events from that fateful night. Rather, we’ve concentrated on providing a cinematic overhaul for the original game, creating a more immersive experience for players by improving the visual storytelling.”

Until Dawn will be available for pre-order starting 21 August 2024.
