As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say the news about Prime Video’s potential foray into video game anthology series has me more than just a little intrigued. With Tim Miller, the director behind Deadpool and Love, Death & Robots, at the helm, I can only imagine the creative brilliance that will be brought to life in Secret Level.
It’s possible that Amazon’s Prime Video could broaden its collection of content related to video games, according to recent reports. The series in question is said to be an anthology for the Fallout TV show, with Tim Miller, director of Deadpool 1, set to lead this project on the streaming platform.
Initially, Deadline announced that they would be the first to break the news about an upcoming animated series titled “Secret Level.” This new show is rumored to be one of Amazon Prime Video’s largest investments in adult-animated programming so far. The series has been likened to the popular anthology series, Love, Death & Robots, which Miller created for Netflix. Similar to that project, it appears that Miller will produce Secret Level in collaboration with his own studio, Blur Studio.
The article mentions that Secret Level will feature unique short stories set within popular video game universes, such as New World (from Amazon), Spelunky, and undisclosed PlayStation franchises. Since Prime Video and Sony are currently collaborating on a God of War TV series, they already have an established professional connection.
According to the latest report, there’s a strong possibility that Secret Level might get an official unveiling in the near future, possibly at the Gamescom Opening Night Live event scheduled for August 20th. However, Prime Video chose not to provide any comments regarding this matter when approached by Deadline.
Beyond the proposed new series, Amazon Prime Video is also working on the previously mentioned God of War television show, the second season of Fallout, a fresh Tomb Raider series (alongside a game), as well as several other video game adaptations.
Regarding Miller, he has experience with both the reshoots of the Borderlands film and producing the two Sonic the Hedgehog movies, indicating that he has a deep understanding of the realm of video game-based entertainment.
