Overwatch 2 Season 12 Introduces Juno, Lets Players Become Egyptian Gods

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Overwatch has always been a staple in my gaming rotation. The announcement of Season 12, New Frontiers, has me more than just excited – it’s got me positively buzzing!

Overwatch 2 is about to unveil details for Season 12, titled New Frontiers, set to debut on August 20th. This upcoming season promises a fresh game mode called Clash, along with additional maps and a brand-new support character named Juno.

Season 12 appears to be centered around Egyptian gods. Some skins for this season include Doomfirst as Bast and as Bast and Reaper as Anubis, to name a few. One of the new maps will reflect this by taking players to the Temple of Anubis. The other map, Hanaoka, was inspired by the Hanamura map introduced in the first Overwatch.

Regarding Clash, it’s characterized by its swift gameplay where players aim to seize several strategic locations. This mode will include changing respawn locations and optimized paths for quick movement between fights, ensuring players can quickly rejoin the action after being defeated.

In Season 12, we’ll officially welcome the arrival of Juno. She was previously teased last month, equipped with an array of weapons. Among them is her main ability, Mediblaster, which both heals teammates and harms adversaries. Additionally, she possesses Pulsar Torpedos, a homing projectile that can gradually heal allies while simultaneously damaging opponents, similar to her primary. Juno’s ultimate skill summons a beam from space, healing players and boosting their damage output.

Additionally, it’s noteworthy that with Season 12 comes a refresh of the competitive rankings for all players. This change aims to provide a new beginning for everyone, allowing them to climb the ladder once more from the starting point.

Despite starting Season 12, the studio has simultaneously announced plans to reintroduce the 6v6 format, a mode that was originally part of Overwatch prior to the launch of Overwatch 2 in 2022.
