‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Paramount+ Series Casts Sandro Rosta

As a seasoned movie critic with a penchant for spotting promising new talent, I must say that the addition of Sandro Rosta to the cast of “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” at Paramount+ has piqued my interest. With his recent graduation from the esteemed Oxford School of Drama and his professional debut in “The Harmony Test,” it seems that this young actor is poised for stardom.

The “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” series at Paramount+ has added Sandro Rosta to its cast.

Filming for the series commences towards the end of this month. Rosta is joining the cast, taking on the role of a cadet, alongside previously announced actors Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, and Zoë Steiner. Earlier announcements also revealed that Holly Hunter will star as both the captain and chancellor of the academy, while Paul Giamatti has been confirmed to portray the antagonist in this season.

Furthermore, actors such as Tig Notaro, Robert Picardo, Oded Fehr, and Mary Wiseman will once again take on their characters from past “Star Trek” productions for this series. Additionally, Gina Yashere is set to make regular appearances as a guest star.

Rosta, having just completed his studies at the Oxford School of Drama, has recently stepped onto the professional stage with “The Harmony Test” at Hampstead Theatre. During his time in school, he took on roles in productions such as “Romeo & Juliet,” “The Cherry Orchard,” and “The Watsons” at Jermyn Street Theatre.

Today, Paramount+ has revealed that Sandro Rosta will be part of the main cast for the original series STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY. He’ll play a cadet in the upcoming show, which tells the story of a fresh group of Starfleet trainees growing up at one of the galaxy’s most iconic locations. CBS Studios is producing this eagerly awaited new series, and filming will start towards the end of this month.

As someone who has always been captivated by the vast mysteries of space and the infinite possibilities it holds, I find the official logline for this show particularly intriguing. Having spent years studying astronomy and dreaming of one day joining Starfleet, I can relate to the young cadets who are striving towards a common goal of hope and optimism. Their journey reminds me of my own struggles and triumphs as I navigated through my academic pursuits, and their experiences of forging friendships, facing adversity, and overcoming obstacles resonate deeply with me. The added element of an unknown enemy that threatens the very foundation they are trying to build adds a sense of urgency and excitement that I can’t help but be drawn into. Overall, this show seems like a compelling exploration of the human spirit and our endless quest for knowledge and understanding in the cosmos.

Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau are the co-heads of the show and serve as executive producers. Gaia Violo crafts the first episode and also produces it at an executive level. Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa, and John Weber are among the other executive producers. The production of this series is a collaboration between CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. The distribution is handled by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
