Skye Townsend Upped to Series Regular on CBS’ ‘The Neighborhood’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Her impressive resume spanning comedy, music, and drama, not to mention her stint on the groundbreaking “A Black Lady Sketch Show,” has proven she’s more than just a pretty face in Hollywood.


Actress Skye Townsend, known for her role in the HBO comedy series “A Black Lady Sketch Show” with comedians Robin Thede, Ashley Nicole Black, and Gabrielle Dennis among others, has been promoted to a permanent cast member on CBS’s show “The Neighborhood.”

The sitcom focuses on a white family from the Midwest relocating to a primarily Black neighborhood in Pasadena, California. Starting this October 21st, you can catch its seventh season on the Eye network. Starring Max Greenfield, Cedric the Entertainer, Beth Behrs, and others.

Townsend takes on the role of Courtney, who is Marty Butler, played by Marcel Spears, ‘s work partner at JPL. They’ve recently started working together at The Fuse Box as electrical engineers. A year ago, they became parents to a lovely baby girl after connecting romantically. Despite their deep commitment to co-parenting, it’s been made clear that they are not in a romantic relationship. Courtney is known for her intelligence, cool demeanor, and outgoing personality, and she often brings humor into situations.

In the year 2021, Townsend became a regular cast member on “A Black Lady Sketch Show”. This role continued through Seasons 3 and 4 of the show. Unfortunately, the program was discontinued in July 2023. Notably, this comedy series showcased skits and attracted high-profile guest stars such as Issa Rae, Angela Bassett, Laverne Cox, Gabrielle Union, and many others.

The performer, who is both an actor and a musician, has been featured in films such as “Pretty Stoned” on MTV, “A Christmas Serenade”, “Christmas Party Crashers”, among others. Previously, she made appearances on the reboot of “iCarly” on Paramount+, “Party Crashers” for BET+, the Netflix series “Lucifer”, and an episode of “Family Guy”.
