Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’ Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

As a seasoned movie connoisseur with a penchant for British storytelling, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing the news that Guy Ritchie’s series “The Gentlemen” is returning for another installment! The first season was a rollercoaster ride of crime, family dynamics, and self-discovery, beautifully woven together by Ritchie’s signature style.

Guy Ritchie series “The Gentlemen” has been renewed for a second season.

The crime show featuring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario as a duo is coming back for eight episodes. In these new installments, James and Scodelario are expected to reappear as Eddie Horniman, an aristocrat, and Susie Glass, a drug empire heiress, respectively. Ritchie will once again take the helm as both director and writer, with Matthew Read joining him as co-writer.

Further cast will be announced in due course and filming will commence next year.

The initial season showcases Eddie’s adventures following his acquisition of his father’s rural property, where he uncovers that Glass and her imprisoned dad have been operating a marijuana business. At first, Eddie aims to free his family from the control of criminal elements, but as events progress, Eddie recognizes not only does he enjoy a penchant for crime, but he also excels at it.

In Season 1, Eddie and his family – consisting of brother Freddy (Daniel Ings), mother Lady Sabrina (Joely Richardson), and sister-in-law Tammy (Chanel Crewsswell) – face a string of questionable individuals, such as Liverpool gangs, Albanian groups, and nomadic communities. Daniel Ings will continue his role in Season 2 as well.

As a movie enthusiast, I’d like to share that this upcoming show is nestled within the same cinematic universe as Ritchie’s 2019 Miramax production, “The Gentlemen.” However, unlike its predecessor, it doesn’t feature any characters that made an appearance in that movie. Instead, it carves out a unique narrative of its own.

Aramide Tinubu, a critic for EbMaster, praised the series as an “outstanding exploration of legacy, family, and personal growth….The visually appealing settings and costumes, along with the clever use of on-screen text to help follow complex plots and intrigues, make the show feel like a captivating tapestry of chaos. Over its eight episodes, it keeps viewers enthralled.”

2024 saw the blockbuster success of “The Gentlemen,” a Netflix U.K. production that featured gun-wielding chickens and drug-peddling dukes, according to the content VP’s interview with EbMaster. This wasn’t unexpected since Guy Ritchie continues to be an influential figure in the industry, known for his authentic British storytelling style marked by swagger, toughness, and humor. We’re excited that the series will return for a second season on Netflix, eagerly anticipating the clash of old money and drug money once again.

In my role as a follower, I’d like to share that the series “The Gentlemen” hails from Moonage Pictures. The executive producers behind this project include Ritchie, a representative from Moonage, Will Gould, Frith Tiplady, and another individual named Marc Helwig, who is affiliated with Miramax Television. Additionally, Ivan Atkinson also serves as an executive producer for the show.

The series is a Moonage Pictures Production for Netflix and Miramax Television.
