Sony Pictures Networks India Reshuffles Leadership

As a movie buff with an insatiable appetite for behind-the-scenes action, I find these leadership changes at Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) absolutely riveting! The intricate web of promotions and transfers is reminiscent of a well-crafted Hollywood blockbuster.

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has announced some shifts in leadership roles, impacting crucial positions on their entertainment networks.

Nachiket Pantvaidya, a seasoned media executive with previous stints at Star TV and Balaji Telefilms, has been appointed as the business head of Sony Entertainment Television (SET). This marks Pantvaidya’s third stint with SPNI. He will retain his current role as general manager at Sony Pictures International Productions, allowing him to leverage his expertise across both platforms.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that my responsibilities at SPNI are about to grow even more! Starting soon, I’ll be taking charge of Sony MAX, Sony MAX HD, Sony MAX 2, Sony WAH, and Sony PAL in addition to my current roles as the business head of English, Bengali, and infotainment channels and the chief marketing officer. With almost 18 years of service at SPNI, spread across two tenures, I’ve played a significant role in fostering growth and profitability for the channels under my management. This new expansion is an exciting opportunity to further contribute to the success of Sony’s beloved channels!

Starting from 2014, Ajay Bhalwankar has been a part of SPNI and is currently managing their Marathi-speaking channel. Now, he will also assume the role of business head for Sony SAB. Under his leadership, Sony Marathi has experienced growth and now commands a 9% share in the Marathi General Entertainment Channel market.

Under its new corporate name Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited (formerly SPNI), significant leadership shifts have occurred at the helm. Gaurav Banerjee, a former executive at Disney India, is set to assume the roles of managing director and CEO starting this month, succeeding N.P. Singh who concludes a 25-year tenure with the company. Singh will transition into a non-executive chair position to facilitate the changeover until the end of the financial year.

Sony Pictures Networks International (SPNI), completely owned by the Sony Group Corporation based in Japan, showcases a wide variety of channels covering numerous genres and languages. According to them, they have an impressive viewership of over 700 million individuals in India alone and can be accessed in 167 different countries worldwide.
