The popular open-world action game Wuthering Waves is launching on Xbox in July. Released in May 2024, it quickly became known as a strong competitor to Genshin Impact, offering fast-paced combat, impressive graphics, and a more approachable system for unlocking characters and items. Wuthering Waves has become a top-rated game in its genre, even winning the Player’s Voice award at The Game Awards 2025 after improvements following its initial release.
Wuthering Waves launched on PlayStation 5 in January 2025, bringing the popular game to a wider audience. Although the port has had some performance issues, players have generally loved the content added with each update, especially the Rinascita update. Version 3.0 introduced the Lahai-Roi region, maintaining the high quality of previous areas. Now, as players continue exploring the Roya Frostlands, Kuro Games is preparing to bring their open-world gacha game to another platform.
Wuthering Waves Is Coming to Xbox in July 2026
Kuro Games announced during a recent Xbox showcase that Wuthering Waves will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox for PC, and via Xbox Cloud Gaming in July 2026. Players with Xbox Game Pass will also receive exclusive in-game bonuses, though details haven’t been revealed yet. A new update, Version 3.3, is coming to Wuthering Waves on April 29, 2026 – before the game even launches on Xbox.

Wuthering Waves is an action role-playing game set in a ruined future on a planet called Solaris-3. You play as a Rover, exploring a vast and growing world and building a team of powerful allies called Resonators – each with unique skills and fighting styles. You get new Resonators through a character system similar to collecting cards. What makes Wuthering Waves stand out is how fair its collection system is: you’re guaranteed a top-tier character within 80 tries, and there are also guaranteed rewards for weapon collecting.
Okay, so if Kuro Games keeps up their current update schedule, it looks like Xbox players like me will probably get to jump into Wuthering Waves around Version 3.5, likely in late July 2026. By then, the game should have a good chunk of the Lahai-Roy area finished, which is awesome! That means new players will have four pretty different regions to explore – Huanglong, the Black Shores, Rinascita, and the Roya Frostlands – giving us a lot to do as we progress through the story.
Fans are excited about Wuthering Waves coming to Xbox, but many are concerned about performance, especially on the Xbox Series S, since the game has had issues even on the standard PlayStation 5. The July release gives the developers time to improve the game’s optimization, which could benefit performance on all platforms. Also, update 3.3 will coincide with the game’s second anniversary and will include extra opportunities to get the new 5-star characters, Hiyuki and Denia. This update is scheduled to run from April 29, 2026, to June 10, 2026.
