Multiplayer gaming is increasingly popular. Players can now easily connect with others worldwide to compete or team up, all from the comfort of their homes. A growing trend is ‘crossplay,’ which lets people play together regardless of their platform – for example, players on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC can all play the same game together. This expands the game’s community and creates more opportunities for everyone.
Letting players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox play with each other, and with those on PC, simply makes games more popular and creates a larger community.
As a gamer, I’m really happy to see more and more games letting us play together no matter what system we’re on! It’s awesome that a lot of the biggest titles either started with crossplay built-in or added it later, making the multiplayer experience so much better. Honestly, there are tons of great games out there now that you can enjoy with friends on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, mobile, or PC – it’s a fantastic time to be a gamer!
This list of games that let you play with friends on different platforms is updated monthly. More and more games are adding this feature, both when they’re first released and through updates to existing games. We’ve recently updated it to include the newest titles with crossplay support. With so many online shooters available, Finals has quickly become popular. This free-to-play game from Embark Studios features teams competing in matches that feel like a game show. Players work together to achieve goals in different game types.
The Finals has quickly become popular due to its thrilling matches and incredibly well-designed levels. Each level feels large and dynamic, allowing players to climb, descend, and significantly alter the environment. The game also offers a variety of character builds that promote creative strategies and thoughtful gameplay.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Was Over 25 Years in the Making
SNK and fighting game fans had been eagerly awaiting Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and it finally arrived in April 2025. The game generated a lot of buzz by featuring real-world personalities – football star Cristiano Ronaldo and DJ Salvatore Ganacci – as playable characters.
City of the Wolves builds upon the gameplay of previous titles, including a system that lets players customize damage boosts based on their health. It also introduces a new ‘Rev System’ that works similarly to the ‘Drive System’ found in Street Fighter 6. The game features smooth online play with rollback netcode and allows players on different platforms to play together.
Civilization VII Is a Switch 2 Game With Crossplay
Following nine years of development and expansion of the popular Civilization VI, Firaxis Games is now working on Civilization VII. While Civilization VI received some criticism for its user interface and simpler gameplay compared to earlier versions, Firaxis has promised to address these issues with updates and enhancements.
Okay, so I’ve been playing Civilization VII, and it’s seriously strategic, just like the other games in the series. You still get to play as all sorts of historical leaders, but they’ve totally revamped the diplomacy. It’s not enough to just build your empire in isolation anymore – you have to actually engage with other civilizations, which is cool. Plus, it’s awesome that Civilization VII is one of the first games to let Switch 2 players play with people on other platforms – crossplay is a game changer!
Gears of War: Reloaded Lets PS5 In on the Action
Xbox is now bringing its popular games to PlayStation, with a remastered version of Gears of War: Reloaded recently launching on PS5. This allows even more players to enjoy the intense action as Marcus Fenix battles the Locust, and players on Xbox and PlayStation can play together online.
Gears of War: Reloaded is an updated version of the game originally remastered for Xbox One. It improves the game’s graphics and makes it run better on different systems. The competitive multiplayer is still fun, and the gritty, cover-based shooting remains satisfying when playing against others.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Is One of the Best RPGs Ever Made
Most gamers are familiar with Baldur’s Gate 3. Inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, it delivers a fantastic role-playing experience. The game offers incredible freedom, meaning each player’s journey will be different. With a compelling story, memorable characters, and engaging combat, it’s a truly exceptional game.
Baldur’s Gate 3’s latest update, Patch 8, introduces crossplay, letting friends play together regardless of their platform. While the game is great on your own, playing with friends will make your adventure even more memorable and epic!
Overwatch 2 Is Builds On Everything Players Loved About Overwatch
There was a lot of discussion about whether making a direct sequel to the original Overwatch was the right move. Hopes for a large single-player experience briefly calmed those concerns, but that feature was recently canceled. Now, Overwatch 2 is essentially a very similar game to the first, focusing solely on multiplayer.
I loved the original Overwatch – it was perfect if you just wanted to have some fun with friends in a team-based shooter. But it was also amazing to watch as a competitive esport, with incredibly skilled players battling it out. Now, with crossplay, there’s a really solid community, and honestly, it’s a great way to spend a few hours online, whether you’re playing with friends or meeting new people.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Is a Classic FPS Game With CrossPlay
For years, Call of Duty has been a leading name in the gaming world, and the newest version continues that tradition. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a quick and exciting online, first-person shooter. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, the game’s enduring popularity proves its successful formula works.
What makes BO7 stand out is its diverse range of game modes. It offers options like Zombies and a campaign, making it fun for players who prefer not to constantly respawn in player-versus-player combat.
Monster Hunter Wilds Is a Beginner-Friendly Entry Point
Okay, so Monster Hunter is back, and trust me, this new one, Wilds, is a huge time sink – I can already tell I’m going to be playing it for ages. It came out in February 2025, and honestly, it’s a really good place to start if you’ve always been curious about the series. If you’re a long-time fan, it might not be super challenging, but if you’ve been intimidated by Monster Hunter before, this is definitely the one to pick up. It’s a lot more accessible, which is awesome.
While Monster Hunter Wilds introduces some new features, the core gameplay still revolves around exploring and hunting huge monsters. Thanks to crossplay and a large community, it’s simple to find teammates and work together to gather resources. Monster Hunter remains an excellent option for anyone seeking a fun and engaging co-op game to play with friends.
Path of Exile 2 Has a Crossplay Feature Even in Early Access
Launched in December 2024, Path of Exile 2 is already impressing players who got early access. While the first Path of Exile came out in 2013, this sequel has revitalized the series. Set years after the original game, players will embark on an epic adventure, fighting against evil and a dangerous new threat called the Corruption.
Path of Exile 2 lets you choose from six character classes, each with customizable skills, so you can play exactly how you like. A great feature is the ability to play with up to six friends. Even though it’s still in early access, the game is looking very promising, and it already supports crossplay, letting you play with others on different platforms.
Phasmophobia Is a Mix of Terror and Shenanigans
After a long wait, Phasmophobia is now available on consoles! Released in October 2024, it allows console players to team up with friends on PCs. The game is a fun mix of silly moments and genuine scares, where a lighthearted ghost hunt can quickly turn intense.
Phasmophobia is a genuinely scary game – expect jumpscares, creepy sounds, and a lot of tension! While it can be terrifying, it’s also incredibly fun, especially when played with friends. It’s not for the easily frightened, but if you enjoy a good scare, it’s definitely worth checking out.
