Project Hail Mary star Ryan Gosling has lined up his next big-screen role.
I just heard some amazing news! Apparently, this actor is working with Universal Pictures and the incredible directors behind Everything Everywhere All at Once – known as The Daniels – on a brand new movie. They don’t even have a title yet, but it’s hitting theaters November 19, 2027! Even better, they’re filming right here in Los Angeles starting summer 2025. I’m already so excited!
Younger actors will audition for supporting roles alongside Ryan Gosling. Directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert will also produce the film, along with Sara Scott, Jacqueline Garell, and Jonathan Wang, who previously collaborated with Kwan on the documentary The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist.
Released in 2022, Everything Everywhere All at Once is the most successful film so far from directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (known collectively as Daniels). It earned $148 million worldwide and was highly praised by critics, achieving a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
As a huge film buff, I was absolutely thrilled to see Everything Everywhere All at Once sweep the awards season! It was incredible seeing it take home seven Oscars, including the big ones – Best Picture, Best Director, and acting wins for Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Plus, the film deserved all the praise for its original screenplay and fantastic editing – truly a deserving winner in every category!
The filmmaking team behind the movie also received major recognition from the Critics’ Choice Awards, the Directors Guild of America, and the Writers Guild of America. Before their success with Everything Everywhere All at Once, the Daniels had previously directed only one other full-length film together: Swiss Army Man, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano.
Ryan Gosling isn’t the only actor enjoying success right now. Following his popular role as Ken in the Barbie movie three years ago, his latest film, Project Hail Mary, is also proving to be a hit. The movie, based on Andy Weir’s novel, has already earned $141 million worldwide and over $100 million in the US – a feat only previously achieved by three of his other films: Barbie, La La Land, and Remember the Titans.
Ryan Gosling’s performance as Ryland Grace has been widely praised by critics, helping Project Hail Mary achieve a 95% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes – a new high for the actor. People are already predicting the film could be a contender at the 2027 Oscars.
Before audiences see the new, enigmatic film by Daniels, Ryan Gosling will appear in Star Wars: Starfighter. This movie, coming out in May 2027, kicks off a new era for the Star Wars franchise, taking place after the story of the Skywalker family.
