‘Rainmaker’ Series at USA Network Casts John Slattery

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of John Slattery’s career over the years, I must say that his casting as Leo F. Drummond in “The Rainmaker” series at USA Network is nothing short of exhilarating! His portrayal of Roger Sterling in “Mad Men” was a testament to his acting prowess, and it’s refreshing to see him take on another formidable character.

John Slattery has been cast in a lead role of “The Rainmaker” series at USA Network.

The television series was initially acquired by the cable network in June and is an adaptation of John Grisham’s famous novel with the same title. Slattery will depict Leo F. Drummond, a character known as “an esteemed courtroom titan and senior partner at Tinley Britt, the influential law firm that Rudy Baylor faces.”

Newly graduated lawyer, Rudy Baylor finds himself squaring off against courtroom heavyweight Leo Drummond, also a former law school classmate. Together with his mentor and her untidy assistant, Rudy delves into two interconnected conspiracies surrounding the enigmatic demise of their client’s son, unveiling secrets that were meant to stay hidden.

The role of Rudy Baylor has yet to be cast.

Slattery is primarily recognized for his performance in the AMC series “Mad Men,” earning four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama. Apart from that, he has an impressive list of TV appearances including “The Good Fight,” “Mrs. America,” “Arrested Development,” “Veep,” “Sex and the City,” and “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.” In cinema, Slattery can be seen in films such as “Spotlight,” “The Adjustment Bureau,” “Flags of Our Fathers,” “Charlie Wilson’s War,” “The Station Agent,” and “Traffic.”

He is repped by Gersh and Sloane Offer.

As a long-time fan of gripping television shows with intriguing storylines, I am genuinely thrilled to learn that “The Series” hails from Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television, two powerhouses in the industry known for producing high-quality content. The fact that Michael Seitzman, a writer whose work I’ve admired for years, is both writing and executive producing this project gives me confidence that we are in for a treat.

Deadline first reported Slattery’s casting.
