Shah Rukh Khan and Family Give Voice to Disney’s ‘Mufasa the Lion’ – Global Bulletin

LION AND CUBS

As a cinephile who has traversed the seven seas in search of the finest cinematic gems, I must say, this week’s lineup is as tantalizing as a freshly popped popcorn kernel.

Renowned Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan, who recently attended an event in Locarno, is collaborating with his sons Aryan Khan and AbRam for the voiceovers in the Hindi adaptation of Disney’s forthcoming feature film “Mufasa: The Lion.”

The movie is helmed by Barry Jenkins and narrates the surprising ascension of a beloved ruler in the Pride Lands, while simultaneously introducing an orphaned cub named Mufasa, a compassionate lion called Taka – who belongs to a royal lineage – and their grand voyage with an extraordinary band of outcasts. The film features original tunes by Lin-Manuel Miranda and boasts an English voice cast consisting of Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba, and Braelyn Rankins as Young Mufasa.

The film will reach Indian theatres on Dec.20 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions.

FORMAT DUO

Nippon TV has sealed a deal with Astro, a Malaysian content and pay-TV group, for the localized versions of two of its acclaimed scripted formats. Starting August 12, Astro will broadcast the Malay adaptation of “Love’s In Sight!” titled “Dari Mata Turun ke Hati,” and later air “Homeroom” as “Kelas Tahanan Cikgu Hiragi.”

Title Translation: “Love’s Approaching!”, a series inspired by a popular manga, portrays the lives of marginalized individuals and narrates the story of a determined girl who attends a school for the visually impaired due to her poor eyesight. In another corner, the drama titled “Classroom Crisis” unfolds after a teacher captures 29 students as hostages, eventually exposing the mystery surrounding a classmate’s sudden and inexplicable death. Previously adapted versions of this series can be found in Turkey and Thailand.

Juita Viden, a major distributor based in Malaysia for both domestic and foreign content, secured the agreement for the local adaption.

SIGNAL INDIA

As a movie connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that the South Korean powerhouse, CJ ENM, has granted the rights for an Indian adaptation of their captivating drama format, “Signal.” The new spin-off, titled “Gyaarah Gyaarah,” is now streaming on Zee5, following its Aug. 9 premiere. Produced by the dynamic duo, Sikhya Entertainment and Dharmatic Entertainment, this intriguing series promises to keep viewers hooked!

In this Korean drama, produced by Studio Dragon, we delve into the intriguing idea of bridging time gaps to crack cold cases. The narrative centers around a contemporary criminal psychologist who accidentally finds an old walkie-talkie, which establishes a link with a police officer from the late ’80s. They collaborate to unravel long-unsolved mysteries while battling corruption together.

As a history enthusiast and someone who has always been fascinated by India’s rich cultural tapestry, I am genuinely excited about the upcoming Hindi film that delves into significant years of our country’s history – 1990, 2001, and 2016. With the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayan ranges, this film promises to be an intriguing blend of mysticism, science, and historical events that are sure to captivate audiences.
