With the upcoming release of Kane Parsons’ horror film based on his popular Backrooms series, fans have been buying up pieces of the original set – specifically, real carpet and wallpaper used in the original location. However, these items are currently sold out.
I first heard about the Backrooms a while back – it started as this really creepy story someone posted anonymously on 4chan back in 2019. The idea is this endless maze of old, yellow office rooms, and you get there by kind of… glitching out of reality, like falling through the world. It’s a super unsettling concept!
The idea gained widespread attention when Kane Parsons, who creates under the name Kane Pixels, began posting short, unsettling videos resembling found footage in 2022. These videos quickly went viral, attracting millions of views, and are now being turned into a film by A24.
Although the creepypasta story is made up, the scary image used in it comes from a real place. The original photo, first shared on 4chan, was discovered to be of a HobbyTown store before it was remodeled, according to the building’s owner, Bob Mazza.
Plaques with samples from the real Backrooms are selling out online

You can now actually own a piece of the internet’s famous ‘Backrooms’ myth! Pieces of the carpet and wallpaper from the original location – along with a signed certificate proving it’s real from the creator, Bob Mazza – are being sold on eBay.
These collectible plaques originally cost about $90 and seem to have quickly sold out. However, some fans are hoping the company will make and release more as long as they have the materials.
This is a framed display featuring a side-by-side comparison of the famous viral room and the exterior of a HobbyTown store. A certificate is centered between the photos, and smaller framed samples of the room’s carpet and wallpaper are positioned on either side.
I was so excited to see that the property had new owners and that Mazza had retired! He mentioned in the listing that there were only a limited number of plaques available, and it looks like they’re already all gone – fans snapped them up quickly!
These are 7×9 inch plaques made to look like cherry wood. They feature a printed photo and two pockets to hold actual carpet and wallpaper samples. These samples came from the building at 807 Oregon St., which I was considering buying when the photos were taken.
No matter what you call it – Level 0, The Complex, or even those infamous yellow rooms – everyone recognizes the Backrooms by its distinct, single-color yellow walls. 💛 #backrooms #thebackrooms #backroomsmovie

This unique plaque is crafted from genuine carpet and wallpaper fragments recovered from the location of the original Backrooms photographs. It comes with a signed certificate of authenticity from the property owner of 807 Oregon St., who has owned the building for the past 22 years.
I’m now retired, and all the money raised from the plaques and the GoFundMe campaign was used to fix the roof. The new owner is planning to complete the renovations I began. I still have a small amount of carpet and wallpaper, and I’ll continue making plaques until those materials run out.
Mazza expressed gratitude to fans for their support. This week, a fan posted a photo on Reddit of a plaque they found listed for sale on eBay, noting their long-time appreciation for the Backrooms.
I tried to get one, but it sold out right as I was about to buy it! I noticed some people got more than one, so I was hoping someone might be willing to sell me their extra.
They expressed gratitude and said they’d consider purchasing the item, even if it cost more. Although no one has made a resale offer yet, some people online are optimistic about it.
One customer mentioned that the item was listed as out of stock shortly after they purchased theirs, but the seller later re-listed it. They believe the seller may add more to the inventory from time to time and recommend contacting Mazza directly to inquire about availability.
Someone else mentioned that the official items would be available for purchase again shortly. The seller has a good supply and replenishes it regularly.
In short, keep an eye out and you might just get lucky.
