Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 Is Still Coming, But What’s In It?

Late in 2023, the first Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection brought several of the series’ classic games to current gaming consoles. Fans have been eagerly awaiting a second collection to include more titles. Now, the producer of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has confirmed that a second volume is still being developed, though they haven’t revealed which games it will feature.

At the Tokyo Game Show, a Metal Gear Solid producer, Noriaki Okamura, responded to a question about a potential second volume of the MGS Master Collection. According to a fan translation shared by X user Kuwabara357 (and reported by Video Games Chronicle), work on Volume 2 is happening, but the team isn’t ready to announce any details.

Good news for Metal Gear fans! Konami’s Noriaki Okamura recently hinted at the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2. He mentioned that it’s taking a bit longer than expected, but development is still underway. He stated, “It has certainly taken quite a while now…”

Fans are most excited about the possibility of seeing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, a game that has only been available on the PlayStation 3, included in a future collection. The first collection didn’t include Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, a 2010 game originally for the PlayStation Portable that was later updated in 2011. Another portable title, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, was also left out of the first collection.

The upcoming Master Collection Vol. 2 might feature those games, as well as both parts of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. However, until Konami officially confirms this, it’s just speculation.

The online multiplayer for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, called Fox Hunt, will become available on October 30th. Yuji Korekado, a producer on Metal Gear Solid Delta, has suggested that more remakes could be coming. However, both Okamura and Korekado believe that if new Metal Gear Solid games are developed, it’s time for a new team of developers to take the lead.
