Cozy Deckbuilding Game Nif Nif is now on Kickstarter

As a parent and fan of deck-building games, I find myself constantly seeking games that are both engaging and suitable for my children to play. The market is filled with dark and violent options, which isn’t always ideal when you want to introduce your little ones to gaming. That’s why Nif Nif caught my attention – it’s a fresh take on the deck-building genre that offers a wholesome and family-friendly experience.

If you find that many current deck-building games are either too grim or violent in nature, you’re not the only one. Since Slay the Spire was introduced in 2017, numerous developers have developed their own roguelite deck-builder spinoffs. However, if this isn’t your preference, then let me introduce you to Nif Nif, a game from this genre that offers a unique perspective on visual aesthetics.

Inspired by her eagerness to introduce her preferred genre to her kids, game director Masha Mallet discovered a lack of suitable, family-oriented games in the market. Consequently, her team at Springfox Games chose to create their own.

In the whimsical world of Nif Nif, I find myself as a cute pink piglet on a mission to safeguard our beloved forest from the encroaching darkness of mud. Rather than slashing through hordes of monsters, my job is to combat this invasion by purifying them instead. Armed with a deck of cards brimming with powerful cleansing spells, I’m ready to tip the scales and comfortably reclaim our forest, one dirty foe at a time.

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that this game is a standout choice for younger players. The wholesome theme and accessible mechanics make it a true gem in the roguelite deck-building genre. Having played countless games from this genre, I can attest to its notorious learning curve, but this game has managed to simplify the process, making it easier for newcomers to grasp the concepts quickly. The cozy aesthetic of the game is particularly appealing to children and adds an extra layer of charm that sets it apart from other games in the market. As a parent myself, I would highly recommend this game as a fun and educational experience for my own kids.

On August 14th, Springfox Games will initiate their Kickstarter campaign for the Nif Nif game, and interested players can show their support by pledging during the campaign’s launch. At present, the game is planned for a PC release via Steam. Whether you’re an enthusiast new to the genre or a seasoned gamer seeking a title to introduce to others, this charming deckbuilder could well become a game that appeals to everyone.
