Jamie Lee Curtis Praises ‘Very Happy’ New Mom Lindsay Lohan, Teases Chad Michael Murray’s ‘Freaky Friday 2’ Return

As a movie enthusiast who has been around for quite a few decades, I can confidently say that I have witnessed some truly remarkable performances and collaborations. Jamie Lee Curtis and Cate Blanchett teaming up in “Borderlands” is one such delightful union that I am eager to witness.

Jamie Lee Curtis is getting freaky again, and having the time of her life doing it.

During a chat about her upcoming movie “Borderlands” with fellow actor Cate Blanchett, the Academy Award-winner shared her enthusiasm for “Freaky Friday 2,” the sequel to her popular 2003 film where she swapped bodies in a comedic twist.

In approximately two weeks, the follow-up film is set to wrap up production, bringing together an adult Lindsay Lohan once more. As Curtis explains, Lindsay is now a mother to a one-year-old named Luai. Becoming a parent, he notes, significantly alters one’s perspective on life. He describes Lindsay as rather cautious, so he advised her to “Relax. Relax.” At the moment, young Luai is learning to walk, a stage where toddlers often cling to objects before trying to stand and eventually fall. During this time, Lindsay is balancing motherhood with her work commitments, keeping tabs on her little one via her phone.

“She’s alternating between watching live videos and tending to the baby. It’s heartwarming to see her child taking first steps. She’s simply delightful, beaming with joy. We’re truly enjoying this wonderful moment together.”

Lindsay Lohan isn’t the only original “Freaky Friday” cast member returning for the sequel. Alongside her, Chad Michael Murray reappears as Jake, and there’s nothing more thrilling to Curtis about it. He recalls the initial script reading for the crew and Disney executives, which was already entertaining and eliciting laughter. But when the character of Chad Michael Murray appeared in the story, let me tell you, the entire room transformed. Every woman in the room leaned forward. The laughter, the applause that he received! Following the reading, Curtis approached the director and producers, saying, “We should expand this role even more. He is pure gold. His character is simply extraordinary.” In short, Jake will be making a significant comeback.

In “Borderlands”, Curtis found himself reunited with Blanchett; however, she didn’t recall ever meeting him prior to the movie. Jokingly, Blanchett said, “I was seeking an apology for not remembering our previous encounter.” She continued, “I’ve yet to receive one, but maybe during this interview we’ll get a long-awaited apology.”

As a fan, I’d like to share that Curtis has been open about admitting his mistakes publicly. To clarify, he insists he doesn’t recall the exchange during an award show we might be referring to.

Blanchett scoffs. “It was at an after party. You were standing there, like a door bitch!”

“Curtis remarks with amusement, ‘I’ve been called many unpleasant names throughout my life, and ‘door girl’ isn’t one I’ve come across before,’ causing them to break out in laughter together.”

During their interview, Cate Blanchett and Brian Curtis consistently tease one another playfully, yet their affection for each other is evident. Both of them eagerly joined this project as an opportunity to collaborate with one another.

“Blanchett remarks, ‘Your impact on my cinematic journey could be more than nine lives, given all the unique experiences you’ve had.’ “

Curtis expresses her feelings in much the same enthusiastic manner. “At 66 years old, I’ve had a truly unique and captivating journey with my career,” she shares, giving Blanchett’s hand a squeeze. “Few people’s work has consistently inspired me to remember why I chose this path as an actor.”

In a video game-based movie produced by Lionsgate, we follow an eclectic band of explorers on their quest to unlock a magical safe on the planet Pandora. Directed by Eli Roth, filming began during the pandemic in 2021 and went through reshoots under the supervision of the “Deadpool” director, Tim Miller, in 2023.

During the interim following two captivating performances, Curtis and Blanchett generated significant anticipation that ultimately led to Oscar nominations for their roles in “Everything Everywhere All At Once” and “Tár”. Notably, Curtis received the award for Best Supporting Actress.

During a four-hour car ride to Palm Springs, Curtis shared with Blanchett her intricate emotions. “I began to experience those nagging thoughts of people telling me I might receive an Oscar nomination,” she remembers, her eyes filling with tears. “It makes me cry. Once someone plants that thought in your mind, it’s hard to shake it off and it continues to bother you…” She confided in Cate about the anxiety she was experiencing, as she didn’t want to be disappointed but also wanted to remain open to any possibilities.

Curtis explains, “I sought guidance from an individual with extensive experience in that particular realm, whom I had encountered multiple times. However, expressing this directly to another person felt exposing and beyond my comfort zone.”

Blanchett chuckles as she clarifies, “‘Borderlands’ won’t be receiving a nomination,” but expresses her hope that fans of the game franchise will appreciate the movie. She describes the film as a unique blend of Western and sci-fi elements, finding it entertaining and heartfelt. “It features Kevin Hart, yes, but it’s also full of genuine emotion,” she adds.

“Curtis describes the film as being like a peanut butter cup – combining elements that seemingly wouldn’t work, yet they do, creating an unexpected delight that leaves you saying, ‘Wow, I adore this combination!'”

Blanchett chuckles, saying, “It’s like a Reese’s Cup coated in a mix of Thresher spit and urine.” (Please note that this phrase is intended for humor and does not actually describe any edible item.)
