As a cat enthusiast and avid gamer who’s been following Stray since its initial release, I couldn’t contain my purr-leasure when Annapurna Interactive announced that our feline friend would be pouncing onto Nintendo Switch on November 19th, 2024. It feels like a dream come true to finally bring this masterpiece into the realm of handheld gaming, where I can play it anytime, anywhere without worrying about finding a cozy spot for my human companion to join in.

It was unquestionably a delightful International Cat Day for cat owners and enthusiasts worldwide, as they dominated social media platforms for approximately 24 hours. The day seemed exceptionally enjoyable due to an announcement from publisher Annapurna Interactive, confirming the release date for their action-adventure game, Stray.

The game was initially unveiled for Nintendo Switch during the Nintendo Direct broadcast in June 2024, yet no additional details were shared. However, this changed on International Cat Day (August 8th, 2024), when the publisher disclosed that the popular cat character would introduce a series of playful escapades to Nintendo Switch consoles on November 19th, 2024.

Enthusiasts excited to experience the cat-themed hero’s escapades again were anxiously looking forward to a possible Nintendo Switch version, which was finally confirmed during the Nintendo Direct broadcast. Amidst the anticipation for an official release date, the game’s distributor created quite a stir on International Cat Day by announcing that the game would be launched on November 19th, 2024, making it perfect for holiday shopping.

Although the game hasn’t been listed on the Nintendo eShop yet, its graphics are expected to be tailored to the Switch’s current screen resolution capabilities. Players can enjoy exploring the cyberpunk settings whether they’re in handheld mode (720p) or docked (1080p), regardless of their TV’s resolution. However, it’s undecided if Stray will run at 30FPS or 60FPS upon release.

As a diehard gamer, I was thrilled to get my hands on the action-adventure gem that hit PlayStation and PC screens back in July 2022. By August 2023, it had gracefully landed on Xbox consoles, expanding its fanbase even further. Since its debut, this title has earned a slew of accolades for its stunning art direction, gripping storyline, clever level design, and, not to forget, the delightful cat-like gameplay that’s become its signature.
