Screenshots from Life By You Show Developer's Progress Before the Game Was Canceled

As a seasoned Sims player with countless hours spent crafting virtual lives and families, the leaked screenshots of Life By You have certainly piqued my interest. Having watched its development from afar, I must admit to a twinge of disappointment when Paradox Interactive announced its cancellation.

Earlier unseen snapshots of the abandoned Life By You game have surfaced online. The team behind it – Richard Kho, Eric Maki, and Chris Lewis – have shared their creations that were intended for a potential competitor to the Sims series by Paradox Interactive.

These graphics were put together by SimMatticaly, a content creator who is a huge Sims fan (via X).

Title “Life By You” generated a range of feelings as a potential competitor to “The Sims,” published by a well-known company. Unfortunately, after postponing early access, the project ultimately met its end. The publisher openly acknowledged it as a “clear failure” for Paradox, despite one developer having greater confidence in the game.

In essence, the screenshots appear very similar to those released prior to LBY‘s removal. However, upon closer inspection, there are some changes: an upgraded character editor and what seems like a slightly polished environment.

Based on feedback from online users, it appears the game looks more appealing in screenshots. This observation aligns with the statements of a previous developer, suggesting the development team had made substantial advancements prior to Paradox Interactive’s decision to halt Life By You, leading to losses.

From the screenshots shared, it appears the game isn’t fully complete as some persistent issues noticed during official presentations remain visible. According to players, while there is evident progress, the developers still have significant work ahead to meet the expectations of Sims fans and the publisher, particularly in terms of improving the gameplay experience.
