Independent game developer Wolfeye Studios Inc., under the leadership of President Raf Colantonio, former head of Arkane Studios and co-creator of the highly praised games Dishonored and Prey, has revealed that their upcoming First Person Action RPG has completed pre-production and is now in full production. The studio plans to involve the community in the early stages of development starting from 2025, through a private and limited Alpha testing phase. This announcement comes after a hint dropped at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), where Wolfeye Studios displayed an image from their Austin office whiteboard that read “Retro Sci-fi” and “First Person”.
Wolfeye Studios is a team comprising top-tier talent from the video game industry, many of whom previously worked at Arkane Lyon and Arkane Austin (which closed permanently in May this year). Co-founded by industry veterans Raf Colantonio and Julien Roby, both former executives at Arkane Studios, Wolfeye Studios introduced their first game, an isometric 3rd person action RPG titled “Weird West,” at The Game Awards in 2019. Published by Devolver Digital in March 2022, the game was also nominated for “Best RPG of the Year” at the 26th D.I.C.E. Awards. Their upcoming game will be a new intellectual property inspired by earlier Arkane games, offering a rich and immersive world, flexible gameplay, and a deep role-playing experience.
