Ryan Gosling has “hope” for Ghost Rider movie after discussions with Marvel

Ryan Gosling has revealed he’s had discussions with Marvel Studios and remains optimistic about potentially starring in a Ghost Rider film someday.

Ryan Gosling has been promoting his new sci-fi film, Project Hail Mary, directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. During interviews, he’s also been asked about his roles in movies like Star Wars: Starfighter and the ongoing speculation about him potentially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This isn’t the first time Ryan Gosling has been considered for a Marvel role. Before Benedict Cumberbatch was cast as Doctor Strange, concept art featured Gosling in the part. In fact, both Gosling and Joaquin Phoenix were reportedly considered for the iconic hero.

Recently, there’s been a lot of talk about Ryan Gosling potentially playing Johnny Blaze in a Ghost Rider movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Gosling has now revealed that he’s talked with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about the possibility.

Ryan Gosling is keeping “hope alive” to star an MCU Ghost Rider movie

Ryan Gosling recently told Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he’s talked with Marvel Studios about the possibility of starring as Ghost Rider, the Spirit of Vengeance, in a future movie.

“I’m at a loss for words, but we’re still optimistic,” Gosling stated. He mentioned they’ve been having conversations about the project, and admitted it’s a complex issue. He also playfully noted that at least his wife, Eva Mendes, got to play Roxanne, Johnny Blaze’s love interest.

This isn’t the first time the actor has talked about wanting to revisit the Ghost Rider role. Back in 2024, he mentioned to Horowitz that Marvel hadn’t contacted him about it, but he’d be very interested if they did. This implies any current conversations about the character likely started within the last couple of years.

For those unfamiliar with the story, the first Ghost Rider was Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stunt performer. He made a pact with the devil, Mephisto, becoming the Spirit of Vengeance to save his adoptive father.
