Hunter Schafer Has ‘No F—ing Idea What’s Going On’ With ‘Euphoria’ Season 3: ‘If We Do Go Back, That’s Going to Be Tough’

As a supporter, I admire Hunter Schafer not only for her remarkable acting talent but also for her resilience and humility. Her journey from an unknown actor to global recognition is inspiring, and it’s clear that she hasn’t let success change her.

Despite “Euphoria” planning to commence shooting its overdue third season in January 2025, Hunter Schafer shared during a conversation on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that she is clueless about the developments for the upcoming season, expressing, “I really have no idea what’s going on.”

She told Alex Cooper, the host of “Call Her Daddy,” “You’re welcome to inquire from any of the entire cast. The genuine scoop is that quite a bit has transpired.”

Actress Schafer, known for her role as Jules on the popular HBO show, became emotional when reflecting on her late co-star Angus Cloud, who tragically passed away at 25 in July 2023, and producer Kevin Turen, who also died in November of that year.

“Schaefer expressed that everyone seems to be eagerly waiting to see if there will be a Season 3. He admitted that he’s still grappling with what transpired and the loss of people we deeply cared for, who were an integral part of our family. If we decide to return, it will undoubtedly be challenging.”

She added: “I believe there’s a possibility of shaping it into an attractive Season 3 – should it occur – but I must say, that event certainly caught everyone off guard.”

In another part of the conversation, Schafer shared that at first, she hid the fact that she was auditioning for “Euphoria,” worrying she might not have what it takes to succeed in acting.

She expressed doubt about her decision, mentioning that she hadn’t felt acting was her destiny or vocation, as she put it. In other words, she hadn’t planned on doing it, and it hadn’t been part of her original plans.

Apart from this, Schafer preferred not to share the audition with anyone due to her background in Christianity. Despite her church being relatively liberal within the Christian faith, she felt apprehensive about disclosing the explicit content of “Euphoria’s” premiere episode to her parents, who are both religious leaders – her father as a pastor and her mother as a youth minister.

“She mentioned a common stereotype about pastors’ daughters, admitting it can be challenging. When she had to confess to her parents that in the premiere of the series, she’d be portraying a character having anal sex with a 45-year-old and self-harming, her initial thought was understanding their predicament – they would need to inform their church community about their child appearing on TV. The congregation, being kind, older, white Christians from the southern region, would then watch this show and witness her in explicit scenes. She continues to feel remorseful as she knows this is something they still must endure.”

Initially an obscure actor, Schafer gained worldwide fame following his role on the HBO original series “Euphoria.” At just 25 years old, he has since landed roles in “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,” “Kinds of Kindness,” and Neon’s upcoming horror thriller “Cuckoo,” set to debut on August 9.

Schafer pointed out that Zendaya was instrumental in helping her cope with the shift into stardom. She further shared that her “Euphoria” collaborator remains one of her dearest friends on earth, even to the present day.

“Fortunately, she had a taste of fame beforehand. By the end of our first season, we had grown quite fond of each other, not just as friends but also as partners. Throughout all the challenges, she was there to guide me.”
