Will the Dead by Daylight x FNAF Collab Be Cosmetics Only?

As a die-hard fan who has been following Dead by Daylight and Five Nights at Freddy’s since their early days, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and skepticism about this recent announcement. On one hand, the thought of these two iconic horror franchises merging in my beloved DBD is a dream come true. On the other, the use of the “x” graphic has historically been associated with cosmetic-only collabs, which leaves me wondering if we’re in for a full-blown chapter or just some spiffy new outfits.

Some players are expressing concerns that the collaboration between Dead by Daylight and Five Nights at Freddy’s might be limited to cosmetic items, as opposed to an extensive chapter featuring unique characters, abilities, and the killer’s power.

The whispers began following the announcement of the asymmetrical game, where they revealed their collaboration through a visual showing the combined logos of both franchises crossed by an ‘x’, a method they often use to signify collaborations focused on cosmetics only.

Hope everyone is prepared for cosmetics only in the FNAF DBD cross over.

As a dedicated fan, I must acknowledge that Dead by Daylight has indeed collaborated on cosmetic-exclusive styles in the past. However, it’s essential to note that this design strategy isn’t just limited to these collaborations; it’s also been effectively utilized as a promotional tool for significant chapters, such as Ringu and Resident Evil, well ahead of their official releases.

Similar to popular franchises, the game Five Nights at Freddy’s was announced ahead of its release – it is scheduled for summer 2025, yet fans discovered it in October 2024 during the celebration marking FNAF’s 10th anniversary.

Rest assured, FNAF fans, this isn’t a new cosmetics line 😉

The way the information is presented suggests that chapters are typically revealed well ahead of time.

Fans noticed that banners for Dead by Daylight cosmetic sets typically include the term “collection” within their design elements. For instance, the Slipknot, Iron Maiden, and Attack on Titan collections all incorporated this label in their corresponding promotional graphics.

In simpler terms, the announcement of our collaboration lacks official artwork, much like how the 25th anniversary of Ringu and Resident Evil didn’t initially showcase artworks for their collaborations either. Additionally, we usually label these Cosmetic Collabs as “Collections,” which is not present in this FNAF collab case.

As an enthusiastic fan, I can’t help but share my speculations about the potential collaboration between Behaviour Interactive and Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF). So far, they haven’t revealed any specific details, but we do know that FNAF content is coming to Dead by Daylight (DBD). Given the grandeur of the announcement, the massive following of FNAF, and the fact that the announcement was made quite some time in advance, it feels like a strong possibility that this collaboration might not be limited to cosmetic items, but could potentially unfold as a full-fledged chapter within DBD. Keep your fingers crossed!
