Elliot Page Says It’s ‘Odd’ Saying Goodbye to ‘The Umbrella Academy,’ Hopes Final Season Delivers the ‘Weirdness That People Have Come to Expect’

As a fan who has followed The Umbrella Academy since its inception, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions as I reflect on the journey of these extraordinary actors and their characters. Aidan Gallagher’s dedication to embodying Number Five is truly inspiring, especially when you learn he channels My Chemical Romance’s “The Black Parade” to get into character!

As soon as Aidan Gallagher became part of “The Umbrella Academy”, it turned out that he was an ardent admirer of the comics sharing the same title.

Yet, it was not apparent to him that the comic’s co-creator, Gerard Way, is also the frontman for the alternative rock group My Chemical Romance.

Gallagher, portraying Character Five, shared with EbMaster at the fourth season finale premiere held at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre, “It felt incredibly fitting.” After getting the show, he would frequently listen to ‘The Black Parade’ on his commute to set as a means of embodying Five’s anger and disorderly personality.

In the latest chapter, the Hargreeves family finds themselves powerless and forced to survive on their own, due to a secret organization’s belief that they are misplaced within different time periods, potentially due to the presence of the superhero group.

Elliot Page said it was “odd” to say goodbye to the series after that final “cut” was called.

“Page reflected that it wasn’t until later that it fully sank in,” he said. “Saying farewell to the team we’ve been working with for so many years was tough, as we had grown incredibly close and developed a strong bond.”

He expressed his deep appreciation for being part of the series for four seasons as Victor Hargreeves, and he wishes the audience an enjoyable time watching the finale. Essentially, he hopes it delivers the anticipated feelings, laughter, and peculiarities that viewers have grown accustomed to.

Emmy Raver-Lampman, portraying Alison Hargreeves, admitted she hasn’t fully grasped the fact that the series has come to an end yet.

“Raver-Lampman remarked, ‘Goodbyes are not always permanent.’ These individuals will always be a part of my life, and I’m incredibly thankful for that. The show played a significant role in this; it connected me with some truly remarkable people.”

She expressed her hope that viewers feel proud for their devotion to the series and keep returning to enjoy “these recurring episodes featuring this eccentric family.”

“Raver-Lampman stated, ‘Our series seems to attract countless stunning fans due to its accurate portrayal of the world, a representation that is not only extraordinary but also exceptional and utterly unique. It’s regrettable that such representation is rare; it ought to be the norm.'”

As a devoted movie fan, I can’t help but share my feelings about David Castañeda, the talented actor who brings Diego Hargreeves to life. In an emotional moment, he confessed that when they filmed their last scene together, he felt compelled to flee because he finds it incredibly hard to bid farewell.

“Castañeda mentioned, ‘We’d like to linger a while more, you understand?’ The final scene we filmed, not realizing it would be our last, hasn’t quite sunk in yet. I imagine it will as the days go by, but for now, I find myself cherishing this moment.”

Instead of emotional goodbyes that others may have, Robert Sheehan described his departure as “quite routine.” He, as Klaus Hargreeves, doesn’t feel like he’s truly saying goodbye to the show.

“Sheehan stated that she’s skeptical when they claim this is the final project. Instead, she thinks there will be more stages in production that she’ll participate in. For now, she’s holding off on getting emotional about it.”

The fourth and final season of “The Umbrella Academy” streams on Netflix Aug. 8.
