Kate Winslet is set to receive recognition at the Zurich Film Festival happening from October 3rd to the 13th. On October 7th, she will be awarded the festival’s Golden Icon Prize and showcase her newest movie titled “Lee.”
In this movie, Winslet plays the role of war photographer Lee Miller, who is also a co-producer. The screening will be graced by Lee Miller’s son, Antony Penrose, and the film’s other co-producer, Kate Solomon.
As a film enthusiast, I’d like to share my thoughts on “The Film,” masterfully directed by Ellen Kuras. This captivating piece follows the life and times of Miller, a woman who earned renown as a war correspondent for British Vogue during World War II. In this gripping tale, Kate Winslet brilliantly portrays the fearless Lee, one of the 20th century’s most influential female war photographers. Her relentless pursuit of truth takes her on a journey to expose the dark secrets of the Third Reich.

At the age of 22, Winslet made a significant impact when she was nominated for an Academy Award for the second time, thanks to her heartfelt performance as Rose in James Cameron’s “Titanic” (1997).
I’ve been nominated for an Oscar not once, but four times – for “Iris” in 2001, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” in 2004, “Little Children” in 2006, and “Steve Jobs” in 2015. However, it wasn’t until my role as Hannah Schmitz in Stephen Daldry’s “The Reader” that I finally took home the coveted statuette. I also added two Emmys to my collection, one for my work on “Mildred Pierce” in 2011 and another for “Mare of Easttown” in 2021. As a movie buff, it’s an honor to be recognized for these roles that have meant so much to me.
