CoD: Black Ops 6 Leaks Reveal A Controversial Warzone Map With Caldera 2.0 Vibes

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen more map redesigns than I care to remember. The latest leak of the potential new Warzone map, Avalon, has stirred a mix of excitement and apprehension within the gaming community.

The highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is preparing for a detailed unveiling and beta towards the end of this month. However, ahead of the official release, there’s been a flood of gameplay footage leaked online. Among the recent leaks is a possible sneak peek at a new Warzone map, which has sparked some debate due to its design.

According to CharlieIntel’s initial report, the leaked clips suggest an expansive battle-royale arena named Avalon, which appears to be set in an island environment. The video suggests that the map is composed of multiple smaller islands linked by bridges. With ample surrounding water, there could be significant swimming and aquatic combat possibilities.

The video clip from CharlieIntel has been removed by a copyright strike, but the same video shared by JenNettles remains on Reddit, where players are already chiming in on their thoughts of the map design. SideOfFish comments saying, “Caldera, but with water. SMH.” Another Redditor replies saying, “I already find it frustrating to cross rivers in Urzikstan, and this looks far worse.”

1. Adding water to Warzone frequently results in challenging battles and end games, where players grapple with poor visibility and underwater gunfights. This can also be compared negatively to Caldera, as the World War II-themed island in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s battle royale was the least preferred among Warzone maps by many players.

According to Inside Gaming, Avalon is speculated to serve as the Warzone map in 2025, replacing the reinstated Verdansk map. Moreover, a recent leak from Black Ops 6 hints at an upcoming feature that allows players to utilize their opponents as a protective shield.

It’s probable that we’ll unveil an official Warzone map during Activision’s Call of Duty: Next event on August 28. The sixth installment of Black Ops is set to launch on October 25, available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
