PBS Distribution Picks Up Rights to Two ‘Frontline’ Specials on the U.S. Election (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned film enthusiast who’s witnessed the evolution of political documentaries over the years, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming “Frontline” specials on the U.S. election. The combination of President Joe Biden’s story and the interwoven biographies of Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump promises a riveting narrative that’s hard to resist.

PBS Distribution has obtained worldwide distribution permissions for two forthcoming “Frontline” documentaries focusing on the U.S. election: “Biden’s Decision” and “The Choice 2024,” with an additional election-themed program potentially in the pipeline.

As a dedicated moviegoer, I can’t help but express my excitement for the captivating documentary titled “Biden’s Decision” produced by Frontline. This film takes us on an intimate journey through the life of President Joe Biden, offering a behind-the-scenes look at his ascension to the presidency and the intricate blend of personal and political factors that molded him. The story culminates in the tense moment when he made the historic decision to withdraw from his re-election campaign. With a runtime of two hours, this documentary promises an engaging and insightful exploration into the life of one of our nation’s most influential leaders.

The award-winning show “Frontline” brings back its popular series “The Choice” featuring intricately linked inquisitive portraits of the two contenders, Vice President Kamala Harris and ex-President Donald Trump. The series delves into their professional journeys and personal backgrounds.

A two-hour documentary by experienced “Frontline” producer Michael Kirk and his crew will feature conversations with friends, relatives, peers, and opponents of the presidential candidates, discussing the hurdles that molded them and might influence how they handle the issues America is currently grappling with throughout their term.

The team has created all previous editions of “The Choice” as well as around 20 documentaries focusing on the Trump and Obama administrations. This extensive body of work gives their team an abundance of material for further development.

Kirk, who has produced, directed and written more than 100 hours of “Frontline,” has won every major award in broadcast journalism, including five Peabody awards, four duPont-Columbia awards, two George Polk awards, 15 Emmy awards and 12 Writers Guild of America awards.
