Richard Gere and Mohammed Al Turki to Be Honored at amfAR’s Venice Film Festival Gala (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned movie critic with a keen eye for both artistry and philanthropy, I find myself deeply moved by this year’s AmfAR Venezia honorees. Richard Gere, a man whose on-screen charm has graced our cinematic landscape for decades, now stands as an embodiment of humanitarian spirit off-screen. His dedication to the fight against AIDS is not just commendable, but truly inspirational.

As a healthcare professional who has spent years working with patients affected by HIV and AIDS, I am thrilled to learn that AmfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is honoring outstanding individuals at its upcoming Venice International Film Festival gala, amfAR Venezia. It’s inspiring to see the work they do in raising awareness about this critical issue and supporting research to find a cure for HIV/AIDS. Their efforts have undoubtedly saved countless lives and made a significant impact on global health. I can personally attest to the devastation caused by AIDS, but also to the hope and progress that comes from organizations like AmfAR. I am eagerly looking forward to this year’s gala and celebrating those who are making a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Richard Gere will receive the Award of Inspiration. As stated by Kevin Robert Frost, CEO of amfAR, “Few in the entertainment industry have made as significant a contribution as Richard Gere in the fight against AIDS.” His compassionate nature and selfless drive to aid those often overlooked by society make him an inspiring figure for everyone at amfAR.

Movie mogul, entrepreneur, benefactor, and ex-CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation, Mohammed Al Turki, will receive the Philanthropic Leadership Award. As stated by Frost, “Mohammed Al Turki’s leadership has made The Red Sea International Film Festival a longstanding ally in our mission for several years. Through their charitable contributions and collaboration, they have significantly contributed to the advancement of our life-saving research.”

As a cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that starting from Monday, it was disclosed that Rumer Willis is set to take the stage during the event. Previously, we knew Kelly Rowland would be performing too.

On September 1st, AmfAR Venezia will be held at Hangar Nicelli, Lido di Venezia. Key sponsors include the World Gold Council and The Red Sea International Film Festival, with Chopard and Campari serving as prominent sponsors. San Clemente Palace Kempinski is our official hotel partner, and the event is also supported by Boroli Wines and RUMOR Rosé.

As a passionate moviegoer and advocate for health awareness, I’ve had the privilege of delving into the captivating world of AmfAR – one of the globe’s most prominent non-profit organizations. This cinematic journey started back in 1985, and since then, it has been relentlessly working towards the eradication of AIDS and HIV through groundbreaking research, prevention initiatives, educational programs, and tireless advocacy efforts. To date, AmfAR has invested an astounding $635 million into its projects and has bestowed over 3,800 grants to dedicated research teams scattered across the globe. This is a story of hope, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of a world free from the shadows of AIDS.

The 81st edition of the Venice Film Festival runs Aug. 28 to Sept. 7.
