Sci-fi turn-based space RPG Stellar Tactics launches on March 30 for PC

After almost ten years in Early Access – starting back in September 2016 – Stellar Tactics, the sci-fi, turn-based space RPG from Maverick Games and Don Wilkins, will officially release on PC through Steam on March 30th.

As a huge fan of both ground combat and space exploration, I’m really excited about Stellar Tactics! From what I’ve seen, it’s going to let you build and command a squad on the ground, then hop into your spaceship and explore a vast, open-world galaxy. Maverick Games is promising a great story, tons of ways to customize your characters, and a really satisfying feeling of discovery as you explore space.

Stellar Tactics brings back the feeling of classic role-playing games, offering a captivating story, tactical ground battles with a squad, and the freedom to explore a vast, open universe. To survive, you’ll need a highly skilled team and the best gear. The game features an enormous galaxy with 10,000 sectors, countless star systems, and millions of planets – offering endless opportunities to explore, battle, and trade as you build a team of experienced heroes to conquer the dangers of space.

You’re a super-soldier, created through genetic engineering, and you’ve just been revived from a long sleep after your escape pod was found. Years have passed since a catastrophe destroyed the colony ship you served on, and the galaxy is now a very different place. A deadly, ever-changing disease called Phage is spreading across worlds as powerful factions battle for control. Your mission is to gather a team and forge your own destiny, navigating complex political landscapes and facing dangerous enemies along the way.

Locate the origin of the Phage and stop it from destroying the galaxy. You can either align with one of the major political factions or remain an independent mercenary – the decision is up to you.

Gameplay

Stellar Tactics blends the strategic, turn-based battles of games like Fallout with the freedom of exploring a huge open-world universe. You’ll discover and investigate space stations, old ruins, caves, and planetary bases, meeting diverse characters along the way – each with their own unique motivations and quests.

Okay, so picture this: it’s a turn-based tactics game where you’re fighting all sorts of nasty things – mutants, monsters, raiders, pirates, the whole nine yards. Every gun and weapon feels different, with its own strengths and weaknesses, so you really have to think about what you’re using. But it’s not just about firepower – you can also tap into these awesome psychic powers called Psionics, and even harness an ancient alien energy source called Azimuth. The best part? You start with a bunch of rookie mercenaries and build them up however you want. There are no strict classes, so your guys get better at what you actually use them for – it’s totally flexible and lets you create a really customized squad.

Discover a huge universe with over 160,000 star systems to explore! You can take on missions, hunt down pirates for rewards, scan planets for secrets and resources, and even take over enemy ships. Plus, you can mine asteroids for valuable materials to earn money and create powerful equipment.
