‘Sniper: No Nation’ Trailer Brings Long-Running Action Franchise Back for More

This action movie series is remarkably long-running and often overlooked, now reaching its twelfth installment – surpassing even franchises like Fast and Furious, James Bond, Highlander, and The Crow in terms of longevity. While fans have often missed it, a new trailer for the latest film promises plenty of explosive action and should finally grab everyone’s attention.

The Sniper series started 33 years ago, in 1993. The first film starred Tom Berenger and Billy Zane, and was directed by Luis Llosa. It follows veteran American sniper Thomas Beckett (Berenger) as he mentors an inexperienced sharpshooter (Zane) during an assassination mission in Panama. Despite receiving generally negative reviews, the Sniper franchise has continued to grow, releasing numerous sequels. Berenger reprised his role in Sniper 2 (2002) and Sniper 3 (2004), while Chad Michael Murray took over as the lead in 2011’s Sniper: Reloaded and has been the central figure in subsequent films.

With the success of the latest film last year, Sniper: No Nation returns with Chad Michael Collins as the lead, delivering the classic, straightforward action fans love. This time, he’s joined by original star Tom Berenger. The story puts Collins’ character, Sergeant Brandon Beckett, on the run after being disavowed, forcing him to seek help from his father, Master Gunnery Sergeant Tom Beckett, played by Berenger, to survive.

The Sniper film series is remarkably consistent, with new installments appearing almost annually since 2011. The trailer for Sniper: No Nation suggests it will deliver the same classic, action-packed experience as previous films. The series benefits from its strong lead actors and a dedication to providing simple, exciting entertainment perfect for a weekend night. The movies are also surprisingly fun, occasionally throwing in unexpected humor and plot twists – like when The Last Stand unexpectedly killed off most of its characters halfway through.

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions

I’m really excited about the next Sniper film! This one’s directed by Trevor Calverley, and it brings back Chad Michael Collins as Brandon Beckett, along with the awesome Tom Berenger as Thomas Beckett. Ryan Robbins is also returning as Agent Zero, and they’re joined by Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz and Josh Brener. From what I understand, the story follows Brandon and Agent Zero heading into Venezuela on a dangerous rescue mission after some friends are taken hostage. It’s set to hit digital and DVD on April 7, 2026, and I’m already marking my calendar!

Even though it hasn’t always gotten the recognition it deserves, the Sniper series is clearly popular, as Sniper: The Last Stand did very well on Netflix last year. With Sniper: No Nation coming out soon, Chad Michael Collins is likely already preparing to start filming the thirteenth Sniper movie.
