PlayStation Plus Premium is getting a boost with more classic games before the year ends. Sony has confirmed that two popular third installments in a fighting game series, along with a remastered version of a cherished action-adventure title, will soon be available to subscribers.
PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will soon have access to three classic games: Soul Calibur 3, Tekken 3, and Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Sony revealed this during their latest PlayStation State of Play event. These games will be available later this year as part of the Premium tier, which is the most expensive subscription level.
Released in 1998 for the PlayStation, Tekken 3 is widely considered a classic fighting game. It was also the first game in the Tekken series to include “Tekken Force,” a side-scrolling beat-’em-up feature.
Released for the PlayStation 2 in 2005, Soul Calibur 3 doesn’t quite reach the heights of the acclaimed Soul Calibur 2, but it remains a solid installment in the series. It introduced new characters like Zasalamel and Tira, and notably, it was the first Soul Calibur game to include a detailed character creation tool, which players could use in the single-player Chronicles of the Sword mode.
Tomb Raider: Anniversary, released in 2007, is a reimagining of the very first Tomb Raider game. It builds on the original gameplay while also adding more depth to Lara Croft’s personality and the game’s narrative.
We don’t yet know the exact date these three new games will be added to PS Plus, or if they’ll all be released simultaneously. Sony did announce October’s free PS Plus games, including Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Cocoon, which will be available to Essential members starting October 7th. PS Plus Extra members can play The Last of Us Part II Remastered beginning September 26th.
If you haven’t already downloaded September’s free PlayStation Plus games – Psychonauts 2, Stardew Valley, and Viewfinder – you have until October 7th to claim them.
Sony’s recent State of Play presentation showcased several exciting announcements, such as a remastered version of the classic game Deus Ex, a detailed preview of Housemarque’s new game Saros, and a first look at Insomniac’s upcoming superhero adventure, Wolverine.
