As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must confess that the Star Wars: Bounty Hunter remaster has left me rather impressed. Despite its modest player base, the game has managed to outshine the much-hyped Battlefront series collection in terms of critical acclaim.
In terms of reviews, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter has outshone the compilation of the original Battlefront series quite notably. However, it’s important to note that the player count for this game is not particularly high.
Originally launched in 2002, the game made its way to PlayStation 4 users in 2016, essentially being the same as the original version. Yesterday’s remaster doesn’t overhaul the game dramatically, but it does enhance visual elements and offers a few modern upgrades.
It seems that this version received significantly more favorable feedback than Aspyr’s previous remaster, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, on Steam. Despite Bounty Hunter having fewer ratings, an impressive 90% of the reviews are positive. On the other hand, the Classic Collection garnered only 80% positive reviews.

Absolutely, it’s crucial to consider more than just the significant gap in review numbers (around 7,500 for Battlefront compared to less than 200 for BC). The reception of the older remasters had its share of criticism, and while there were multiple factors at play, the malfunctioning multiplayer mode was a primary concern. Although it wasn’t the sole reason for the negative feedback, it was largely due to the limited number of servers and a glitch that hindered the setup of private sessions. As a fan, I can relate to these issues and hope for improvements in future releases.
In contrast to the Bounty Hunter game, it lacks a multiplayer mode, much like the Dark Forces remaster that came out before the collection. The second release, developed by Nightdive Studios instead of the original company, was generally more well-received than the Battlefront Classic Collection.
In both cases, the title didn’t attract much attention. Having 633 players is a reasonable outcome, but it’s not particularly impressive, especially when compared to the Battlefront Classic Collection that significantly reduced server issues initially. Unfortunately, the number of players in this second spot seldom surpasses 100, even during busiest hours of the day.
It’s important to mention that while this is indeed a remaster (or port) of the game Bounty Hunter, making it available for the first time on PC, some players have pointed out that it comes with issues not found in the original version. Additionally, they’ve noted that it lacks the ability to customize control settings.
Besides this, gamers suggest disabling ambient occlusion on GeForce RTX 4000 series graphics cards as it seems to considerably decrease performance. Moreover, ensure that the game is not inadvertently relying on your processor’s integrated graphics rather than the dedicated Nvidia GPU setup.
